Summary: Jomy welcomes the children of Nazca to the Shangri-La. Set between episode 17 and episode 18.

When the children of Nazca woke up from the stress of their great effort to protect their people, they looked about twelve years old. Tony was bordering on fourteen, perhaps, and Artella followed him faithfully at what might have been thirteen.

Even Jomy couldn't tell for sure, as he stood in the door of the infirmary to lead them out. They were whatever age they needed to be. This, too, would pass quickly. They wouldn't be pre-adolescents for long; soon they'd be teenagers, and then they'd probably stay looking the same age as he did. He wasn't sure what to make of that.

Tony approached him first. "You're not disappointed in us, are you, Grandpa?" He could sense the thoughts running through Jomy's head, but he couldn't completely make sense of them. He was still, in his own way, very young.

"No," Jomy said. "No way. I'm proud of you, Tony. I'm proud of all of you." But he could see a future stretching ahead of them that few people would be proud of. They were going to be the warriors of the Mu people. With him, they were the only Type Blues left. They would have to do things he shouldn't ask of children.

But for now--

"No one told you, right?" he said.

"Told us what?" That was Cobb, eyeing him a little sullenly. Already, they were on the verge of being teenagers.

"This is your first time on the Shangri-La," he said. "All of you except Tony. So I wanted to welcome you."

"You don't have to, Grandpa," Tony said. "This is all we have left. This is all you have left. We'll protect it for you."

"I want to see it," Artella said suddenly. "I want to see what we're protecting."

"You'll all get to," Jomy said.

He led them out of the infirmary and to the green fields he had once met their parents on as children younger even than they looked now.

"It's green," Twellen said. "Green and white everywhere. It isn't like Nazca at all."

"Eventually," Jomy said, "we'll all be somewhere green and white and blue, too. That's the Terra Blue wanted us to go to."

"Do you want us to go it, too?" Tony asked.

"Yes," Jomy said, but he didn't say why. Tony knew. They would go to Terra in Blue's memory, just as they would topple the Superior Domination system in memory of the parents these children would never know.

"Then we'll go," Tony said.

"I'll go, too," Artella said. "Because Tony's going. Right?"

"We'll all go," Jomy said. "Together. But right now...you guys should feel welcome on the Shangri-La."

"Because it might be the last time," Tony said softly, voicing what was in Jomy's mind.

Jomy bowed his head. "It doesn't have to be," he said. "Someday..."

He didn't know what someday would bring. He only knew that he wanted to use these children to make a better future for all of them.
