INTRO/PREVIEW | PART 1 | PART 2 | PART 3 | PART 4

Eons ago, I made THIS post - flailing over the prospect of Comic-Con 2010 and everything I would have the chance to experience there. And though we didn’t get to do everything, the experience was more than I could’ve possibly dreamed of.

It’s been difficult finding time to write-up my entire experience - summer, life & LJ-ing just clashed on every possible level. I know these posts are basically invalid, but if anything, it's an excuse to reminisce and relive it. ♥

I know it's VERY MUCH TL;DR, because these are basically diary entries. So I've added LOTS OF PICS for quick browsing - see a pic you like, then go ahead and read :)

A huge “THANK YOU!!” to all of you for your huge amounts of flailing, screaming, jumping, and all your awesome well-wishes & excitement during that epic post - though it was so long ago, in reality it feels like yesterday. ♥ ♥ So many of you have introduced me to these wondrous fandoms & people - and for that I’m eternally grateful. I sincerely hope that each of you will get the chance to experience something similar at some point in your lives ♥

Preview Night - Summary
→ Badge Pick-up
→ Tron booth & exclusives
→ My siblings & I exploring the booths

L to R: Dad, Me, Steff, Mom, David

So you can put names to faces, this is my lovely family ♥ I honestly don’t know what I’d do without them. My siblings are my best friends - they just get me, you know? They understand my weird geeky sense of humour, they understand my flail & fandoms, and they’ve always stuck by me. Put the three of us in a room & we’re an ABSOLUTE RIOT :P

The reason we go to Comic-Con every few years is because my Dad is in the business. He’s a trained architect and a brilliant painter, but he wanted to spend more time at home with us when I was younger. So he combined his love for comic books & drawing and opened a comic store when I was 6 years old :D He saw it as not only a chance to pursue his hobby & teach art, but an opportunity to get closer to the industry & creativity he admired so much ♥ So we all grew up with this stuff - came home from Kindergarten to watch Spider-Man, the X-Men, Batman, Sailor Moon, etc. And I honestly can’t thank him enough - he’s made my life so much richer by opening my eyes to this world of art, creativity, and story-telling. Love you always, Dad ♥

The last Comic-Con we attended was in 2007, but LOL I DIDN’T WATCH TV BACK THEN. Like, seriously xD The only shows I watched were American Idol (hey, that took up 2-3 nights/week!) and Smallville. My family and I mostly watched anime (which has some of the most amazing story-telling imo), and so 2007 was the year of anime @ Comic-Con for us.

But 2010 was the year of TV fandoms & movies ♥

We landed in San Diego mid-afternoon, dumped our luggage in the hotel, then raced to the convention center to pick up our badges. Even on Preview Night, MY GOD. THE LINES. Comic-Con has EXPONENTIALLY grown over 3 years. I mean, on the plus side it attracts the big studios, the famous celebrities, and makes for a REALLY exciting time. But the downside is all the waiting … it’s basically Disneyland inside a concentrated room. And moving around the Exhibit halls can be absolute hell - I felt so sorry for the mothers with strollers & the people in wheelchairs … in that respect, it can be mentally trying.

Anyways, we got our WB goodie bags & program guides. After trying to get different ones for 15 minutes (because I was too slow to realize that they had DIFFERENT DESIGNS ON THEM - Batman, Fringe, Big Bang Theory, etc.), we headed into the Exhibit hall @ 7pm. But just my luck, my bag broke, so Mom and I went back out to trade it.

The two of us ended up entering the Exhibit hall next to the Disney Tron booth - where there was this MEGA HUGE LINE. So I went up to a guy in a line and asked, “What are you lining up for?” and he said, “Tron exclusives!” For retailers & collectors, exclusives are a pretty big deal :) This guy was kind enough to allow me to slip into line with him and I told Mom to radio Dad and the others at the DC Comics booth. (Yeah… we used walkie-talkies xD )

I waited in line for 45 minutes - one of the exhibitors came around to tell us there was a good chance we WOULDN’T get one and Mom wanted me to leave the line. But I was stubborn xD My siblings came to keep me company and we took pictures while we waited. But they quickly got bored & went to explore the exhibits, so my Dad came to keep me company. THE WAIT WAS NOT IN VAIN, and we each got one figurine :)

Afterwards, my siblings & I just ran wild xD My brother led me to the gaming area, specifically the Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood booth, but my sis and I got TOTALLY distracted by the booth next to it: Just Dance 2. Anybody could line up on stage and try out a song, and my sister being a dancer, we pushed her towards the line. She was AMAZING - and got a free sweat headband for it ♥

We then headed to the CBS booth for some freebies. While waiting in line, they were announcing that there would be a Big Bang Theory signing the next day @ 3pm. OH. MY. GOD. My siblings and I were ready to die right then and there. We grabbed our free Big Bang Theory sharpies and quickly went to find our parents.

We regrouped with our parents then headed over to the Sideshow booth - got more free stuff & admired the gorgeous sculptures/busts. If only luggage wasn’t an issue… *sigh*

The night ended with us going to go buy some Big Bang Theory photos for the cast to sign - we got one each ♥ Then we leisurely strolled around - going to the Pokemon booth and taking pics with Pikachu, heading to Hasbro and taking pics with the Captain America shield and Thor's hammer. All in all, a wonderful start to the Con :)
