I've just spent the last hour and a bit writing next week's installment of The Enemy Within campaign for WFRP, and come to a realisation:

I find it so much more enjoyable to write an adventure and then run it than I do to note down the key points of a pre-written plot and then translate it into a game.

Well, from my limitted experience in running pre-written campaigns, I'd say while it could see them a rewarding experience to run, it'd be a different sort of rewarding - more "Oh wow, I can't believe they went for that", and less of the usual "I have this world in my head and other people are interacting with it and enjoying it" that I usually have the good fortune to have ( ... )

Depending on what you're running, I might be interested in playing in your game - I'm intrigued by what you'd be like as a GM.

My experience of GMing is limited to a single one-shot, so I'll stick to player perspective ( ... )

Although that's probably not always the case, as some GMs might be so in love with the story they've crafted that anyone deviating from it is not tolerated, because it will ruin the perfection of their art.An extreme variant of railroading. I've never been in a game that bad, but I have been in games where you get the feeling that, no matter what you choose to do, A is going to cause B to happen, followed by C, and then D, because that's how the plot was written, dammit ( ... )
