I have heard about this spechul little hellhole when I lived in SC. I have not heard about it since moving to Oh.

The part about the cover up that puzzles me the most is this. Everyone who worked there must be dead by now. Has to be.

None of the children were likely to have direct line descendants, so suing can easily be brushed aside.

Just who are they protecting? The county's good name? Respect for the law?

Even if the kids had been murderers, even if they 'deserved to be executed' they didn't deserve daily torture and an unmarked grave.

One of the known perpetrators is still alive, and actively fighting against investigation and exposure. The families (many of whom are still alive) are pushing for investigation - most just want the truth told and closure. They ripped families apart... and of course the poor and minorities took a big hit (they'd take kids away from families for things like "not being polite enough to their betters" and accusations of things like "associating with a bad crowd" and "stealing a slice of bread" when they were hungry ( ... )

I just read the wikipedia entry. Its only been closed since 2011. And they never pressed charges against anyone, saying it was impossible.

At least the ACLU is involved and they are sending the remains out of state to be IDed.
