With a journal called  (and themed) "Pirates of the Burley Griffin" and a default icon sourced from Arcadia of My Youth it shouldn't come as a surprise that I have a fondness for Romantic/Heroic Space Pirates as a genre. Captain Harlock: Piloting a giant starship with a wooden pirate's wheel (which itself is anachronistic because in the classical pirate era they weren't using wheels) while standing on a DECK that's OPEN.

AND WE DON'T CARE BECAUSE HE'S TOO COOL.

The Denver Anime Association, many many years ago, had a poster of Captain Harlock with the caption: "OXYGEN IS FOR WIMPS!"

Don't forget using the Revi C-12D gunsight from a Messerschmitt Bf 109 to aim the turreted naval guns.
