Truck Guy

If you've ever snuck into the Oakland cemetary after dark, you might have hidden from Truck Guy. Truck Guy drives around in a truck with lights pointing off in all directions and every once in a while, I've had to dart behind a headstone or a tree to hide from him ( Read more... )

* I never go to the cemetary at night without whipped cream

** at least, not the Paso Robles cemetary.

*** almost getting caught is half the fun of it!

**** almost getting run over by rednecks in a jacked up 4 x 4 because they think playing with whipped cream in the cemetary is some kind of desecration against Jesus, not so fun (and, how is driving around the cemetary lawns in said jacked up 4 x 4 NOT desecration if whipped cream is?!?)

Silly rednecks... seriously, if the average person had to chose between rednecks driving over their grave or people eating ice cream sundaes with whipped cream on top of their grave, wouldn't it be a very easy decision?

I used to go to a weekly party there back in 1992, and our name for Truck Guy was Wilbur - I cannot for the life of me remember why. There were usually upwards of 25 people at these gatherings, but they were strategically located on a certain hill, at a certain pyramid-shaped crypt, where we could see Wilbur coming from miles away. He never *caught* the entire party, but he did occasionally issue a similar warning to kids hiding in the bushes on their way in. At the time, all of us believed that Wilbur didn't want the trouble of actually apprehending us, and would continue to let us slide as long as we picked up all our trash before we left ( ... )

I was actually pretty embarrased that Truck Guy caught us. But, we _were_ right near the bottom, on some of the huge streets with no where to hide.

Silent electric truck guys - now I haven't seen THEM before, but I guess they'd be much less noticeable (which is the whole point).
