Truck Guy
If you've ever snuck into the Oakland cemetary after dark, you might have hidden from Truck Guy. Truck Guy drives around in a truck with lights pointing off in all directions and every once in a while, I've had to dart behind a headstone or a tree to hide from him.
Hiding from Truck Guy is fun, but also a bit scary. I really don't want to be arrested for trespassing and I was never quite sure what would happen if I got caught!
Last night, we saw Truck Guy coming from a distance - headed straight for us - on a main road with very few trees or headstones. I crouched behind a trashcan while the person accompanying* me lay down on the grass, near a tree.
Truck Guy drove up, seemed to accelerate, then stopped.... right next to us.
An amused voice said, "I know that you know you're not supposed to be here..." (I assume he said this because grown people usually only hide behind trash cans if they are aware they are breaking rules.)
I paused... looked into the bright lights and said, "We were just leaving?"
Truck Guy said, "OK." And drove off...
I'm... well... relieved AND disappointed. At the same time!
*I never go to the cemetary at night alone. Too scary!
