I received a phone call from my boss on Thursday morning (actually woke me up as it was 8am Perth time!).

The reason he was calling is that

MY REDUNDANCY IS OFFICIAL

Although he is still saying June 14 or up to 30th June if we haven't finished handing over.

I actually had mixed emotions when he told me, but I wasn't sad, just the realisation that it ( Read more... )

I'll be taking 3 months off, which is my long service leave anyway, but I thought i might also do some voluntary work during that time. Maybe one day a week.

There's a few things going through my head. I'd like to volunteer with that woman, whose name escapes me right now, who brings those children from other countries to have life saving surgery here in Australia. Not sure what I could do, but I'm sure every bit helps.

I'd like to do something like that for a while.

Welcome home and congratulations J. Time for a well earned break and some "you" time. You deserve it :-)

Thanks S. I actually feel very relaxed after the Perth trip. Although I think i'm overloaded on my mother's company. Time for a break from that!

The next 3 weeks at work will be frantic, getting documents written and training the staff from the 'Preferred Supplier' (Indian company of course, but here in Australia) and hopefully finishing in mid June........it's pretty scary knowing I'll then be unemployed for the 3rd time in my life, but it's time to move on.

Was thinking about you as I watched Bill Shorten on Sunday this morning. What are your thoughts on him as Labor leader? Maybe it's jumping the gun. That's what he'd have us believe, and he's certainly very good at political-speak. *knows she can always trust J for an opinion or two* :-)
