So I have 3432 songs in my iTunes.  That's insane.  And I would bet 3300 of them are soundtracks or show tunes.  Yea for Broadway!  I'm rediscovering "Ragtime" and seriously, "Back to Before" is an amazing song.  I found the sheet music for $5 at a used bookstore, and there have been many happy hours of me playing and singing along.  I love my ( Read more... )

Ooh, a fellow soundtrack lover! I, too, collect many soundtracks. I like to listen to music as a write, as I find it helps set the mood. (Bonus fun fact: I wrote the Crossing the Line and Harold's Confession chapters of Roses and Moonlight to A Postcard from Henry Purcell, the Secret Life of Daydreams and Darcy's Letter from the P&P soundtrack.)

And speaking of movie novelizations - I am currently working my way through the novelization of The Mummy Returns. Seems to me it's a good way of getting paid to write what is essentially fanfic! Wonder how I can get in on that? :D

Ooh, that P&P soundtrack is one of my favorites. Excellent choice! :D

And I think you're right about the movie novelizations--it's always interesting to see what things they change or scenes they add. As for getting in on it, I have no idea....but I wish you luck! :D

I forgot to mention - in the Mummy Returns, there were many lovely and touching Rick/Evy moments. :D

As for the writing itself, it was okay. I wrote a few comments about it in my LJ awhile back: link here

Okay, tell me you've read Pamela Aiden's trilogy that begins with "An Assembly Such as This" This is the best "fan fic" version of the BBC Pride and Prejudice as told from Darcy's POV that I've read. The middle book veers off some, but comes back with the final story to sweep you away!

I've read those, but it's been a *long* time. I read the first one and couldn't find the second one for a while. IIRC, the middle one has Darcy solving some sort of mystery at a friend's house? But yes, they are certainly one of the better published fanfics for P&P! :)
