I saw this on the news last week with my host sister ;_;
Otters are such beautiful creatures, I hope that professor is right and they're not totally gone ):

This is weird. These otters are called "Kawauso" right? I remember seeing them on a Japanese animal variety show just few months before!

There's a different term for that though: extinct in the wild.

Kawauso is just the Japanese word for otter.

OH NO!!!!
I just saw three of those cuties in the Kaiyukan Aquarium in Osaka and couldn't rip my eyes off them!
Poor babies!!!!!! :(
