Last night, my dad (jokingly) threatened to secede from the United States if Obama won. He also said that I would need a passport to get into the state of Texas when I go home for Christmas

Much shit talking goes down during election season. Give it a few days to sink in (or a few weeks.) and I'm sure all will be well. My brother already ate crow with me via MySpace and said that he was impressed with Obama and felt hopeful about his term as president.
I think everyone can agree on one thing: we're all glad it's OVER. I can now watch something OTHER than MSNBC on a loop and hopefully don't have to hear about Sarah Palin any time in the next few months.
but that's the great thing about our country. we're not forced to think a like. but i know it's hard for parents to realize that their children have their own views that may not be the same as their own.
but what is done is done. and they have to realize that republicans voted for obama. he won the popular vote by a good margin.
hopefully the dust will settle with everyone once he gets into office and doesnt back down on his promises.
Yea, I know the feeling. It was pretty tense in my family during the...well...past 2 years. It'll take a while to get over it. If ever. I'm sure they will try and twist everything Obama does while president to try and throw it in my face. Oh god, how I wish they didn't get Fox news.
