Last night, my dad (jokingly) threatened to secede from the United States if Obama won. He also said that I would need a passport to get into the state of Texas when I go home for Christmas.
I know this isn't what my parents wanted to happen. And that's fine. They voted, I voted, Obama won, and now it's over.
I really just hope that they (and me, to some extent) can get past this strange period of president-elect-apprehension with an optimism to carry us through the next 4 years.
