Yes, I think the Riley scenes might have worked better for me if the actress was cast better.
I don't think I was quite as enthusiastic for this episode as you were as it dragged in spots for me. I thought Summer was outstanding and Sarah was okay. I just would like to see her lighter at some point (which I know is unpractical) but just to balance out all the sturm and angst. This was my same complaint for Linda Hamilton too.
As for GG - I could not agree more about the casting of the Lord. He is so snoringly awful. Gah. But then I liked more of this than you did too. I loved the mini Serena/Blairs in the park and I really think Blake and Penn sold the hell out of the breakup.

I read your write-up and yeah, you didn't enjoy Sarah's story as much as I did. Oh, I have so many complaints for Linda Hamilton. NOT. A. FAN.
