I've heard from a couple of other people about the Who panelists being rather negative about New Who in general. Which is a shame, especially hearing how many people went to the panel specifically for New Who.

The thing is that it didn't even come across as new Who they were insulting, but just Russell T. Davies. Because they were all excited and amped up about Stephen Moffat. It was just frustrating and stupid because you have this huge group of people, including a bunch of women, who are there because they LOVE what RTD has done with Who.

Very disappointing.

Aww, Sarah Jane. (That is Sarah Jane from old Who, right?) I've GOT to find a way to get my hands on all of the old Who in order because, yeah, I do want to watch it all.

waves back

It was great seeing you too. Sorry to hear you were sick. You didn't tell me that.

Gigi and Virginia are extremely nice and approachable.

Hayden...well, I'd heard some things about her at previous cons, but looking at the pictures of her and her fans showed me what she thought of the whole thing. She really needs to opt out of cons if she can't give it her all.

Hee, naked Mal!! (Rewatching Terminator, I went on a Summer pic-finding mission last night, which led to pics of Summer/Nathan at a few cons, which led to reading some steamy Mal/River fics. 'Twas awesome.)

We talked so briefly, it didn't seem important then.

Not. surprised. at. all.

Again, though, yeah, not Who bashing -- Russell-bashing (admittedly slight, but still it was slight dissing, not quite bashing, to be fair). Grr. They also said that Chris Eccleston might come back (the Doctors meeting for the 50 year anniversary) since RTD is gone because he and Rusty hated one another. Which I've never read or heard ANYWHERE else. I've heard of CE having issues with a director on the show, and worry that the BBC would have issues with him because he left, but I've never heard of CE/RTD issues. I sure hope that was just them speaking out of their asses because I want to believe that RTD and CE will work together again. Ah well, considering their RTD-anti-bias, I wouldn't be surprised if it WAS pulled out of their asses. I hope so.

Yeah, they'd worked together before. And again, I've heard about a certain director on the show, and CE worried about BBC issues, but NOTHING between CE and RTD ... which, again, makes me think the RTD-haters on the panel were pulling it out of their ass.

Forgive the language, but some people are fucking idiots. New Who wouldn't exist if not for RTD, CE, and BP. They had no idea if it was even going to get off the ground, and it was the awesomeness of S1 that got it all going, so people need to get off their high fucking horses and stop the bashing.

A-FUCKING-MEN!!!

One of the podcast panels I went to had someone on the panel who owned the recorder they were talking into and it WILL be going up. (I think it's Buffy between the lines.) So keep an ear out for that.

I'm glad to see another person shares my opinion of the BritTrack's attitude toward Doctor Who. I think I'd have been a lot happier if I'd walked out after 20 minutes! Please try to set up a pro-RTD/pro-Rose panel, or at least send the BritTrack a letter of complaint. (I've talked to so many people who were upset about the negative and dismissive attitude toward Rose and RTD. There was also a huge Old Who bias, although that came out more in the other--supposedly general--panels than in the New Who one.)

Really?! Wow, maybe I should have stood up and said something. I thought about it, but didn't want to rock the boat and I was a little leery that it was just me, since I don't know anyone from online Who fandom there. Hearing this, though, I'm glad that I did walk out if it just got worse. Ugh. I'll look into setting it up, what has to be done. I know I wouldn't want to do it alone, though. So, I'll have to see.

ETA: Well, I sent a dual-email. I complained about the negative attitude AND asked about how one would set up a panel as I'd be interested in one for *actual* fans of RTD's "Who."

Awesome!

I know violet_lane and jaydk expressed interest in being on panels. tardis_stowaway might also be interested; I'm not sure, but she was another Rose fan in attendance who wasn't happy with the panels they had.

I'll wait to hear what kind of reply I get back from DC; and if a panel sounds do-able, I'll contact them. If you're friends with any of the three above, feel free to send them here so maybe we can get some discussion going beforehand.
