My Mum and Dad SquickFic for flamewarrior is coming along...hopefully with some time to work on it I can have it ready in a week or so.
Well, I actually had some inspiration for the prompt at marauders100 this week. So without further beating around the bush, here it is.
Title: Heaven is Lost

On the slow walk to the store, Remus counts his change and it's not much.
Loosing his job after the last full moon was a harsh blow, not that it was surprising. Muggle jobs don't pay much to begin with anyway.
He’ll need some protein, iron, and tea. Cheese, if he can afford it; dried beans if not. Discount beef and day old bread. Fresh veggies would be lovely, but he doubts he can afford them. Maybe some bananas.
He walks down the frozen isle, gazing longingly at the ice cream. Memories of his childhood come screaming back, when both food and friends were plentiful.
Fish sticks and carrots, with ice cream for dessert. Heaven at nine years.
He wanders into the meat aisle, browsing the discount section, but eyeing the sirloins that only three months ago were the usual fare after a moon. He sighs plaintively and reaches for some ground beef, two days away from expiry. It’ll be fine if he eats it tonight.
Thick steaks and potatoes, Sirius for dessert. Heaven at 19.
Heaven is gone now and Remus is in purgatory.
Fish sticks and Sirius are lost, forever beyond his reach.
Still, he can’t forget them.
