You know...for all my love of critically analysing cyborgs and robots, I have a somewhat hard time doing that with Terminator, as I have a sizable emotional attachment to the first two movies, and esp. no. 2. I used to watch them allllll the time when I was younger, with my dad. We always bonded over our love of sci fi (esp. films with Arnie in them). So it's actually possible for me to watch the movies without my brain constantly making notes, which very rarely happens nowadays, esp. with new movies.
I'm both excited and wary about tomorrow night. I didn't think much of T3. Will this be better? What if it's not? What if Skynet stuff is childish? Etc.
I should finish watching Chronicles - I love stories about how it all began; how artificial sentience came to exist.
Man, I don't think I can turn that part of my brain off! It's always an effort to do so and sometimes I'm more successful than other times. But I have to admit I'm possibly predisposed to analysing Terminator like I am with Alien because we actually studied it in university as part of the whole masculinity in film thingabobbie. *nods*
So did you end up liking the Skynet stuff or was it childish after all?
Let me know if SCC is worth another go. I've been thinking maybe I was a bit too hard on it, considering it was the first season. As Miss Sheba has pointed out, we Whedon fans have been so spoiled we expect every show to blow us away instantly and kinda forget that even the first season of Buffy wasn't all that great. Does second season improve?
But yes, I have heard such amazing things about Season 4 of Supernatural I am actually going to swallow my resentment of the shitty writing and give it a go. Here's hoping.
