Just finished April Lady. Sad wretched little story, really, but with a damned satisfying romantical type ending. I only have The Grand Sophy to go now but I may try Royal Escape too for curiosity's sake

I did deliberately save it for the last! *beams* Cos it seems to be such a favourite for most people and also I thought Sophy was an old lady and not the main young protagonist ... *lol* ... now I suspect I was wrong but to entirely awesome effect. Hee!
You realise this is all completely your fault, don't you? The fact that I have three stacks of Heyer books teetering on the edge of my bookcase and am using far more commas than I used to. :p
You thought she was old? Awesome. Sophie is one of Heyer's most entertaining heroines. My friend liadlaith was expounding recently on her theory that in the romance genre a writer starts with one character and creates a mate for them and that you can usually tell which one came first. In this case it's Sophie all the way.
I love that this is my fault. You are not my first Heyer convert (liadlaith was), nor are you the last for that matter, but I hope there will be many more. Spread the madness!
I'll be really interested to see what you make of contemporary, inferior Regency romance. I've gotten to the stage where I get all thrilled when I get my hands on a new Lisa Kleypas or Julia Quinn, but I am aware that they aren't as clever, complex or funny as Heyer. I read the complete works of Heyer in my early teens, so there's been a gap of over ten years to act as a buffer.
Oh liadlaith's spot on. And hee, I am totally planning on buying The Great Sophy after I finish my current read.
Yes! And I have in turn infected sheba_finesse who is gobbling them down as fast as I did! Hee, it's too awesome.
You know, I actually do have a Julia Quinn sitting on my Borrowed From People To Read stack? It's from a court officer to whom I lent Arabella. She gave me Brighter Than The Sun in return and oh man, it was the worst timing ever because I only got three pages in before giving up in frustration.
I really should give it back cos honestly it was way too soon. I think I have to wait like six months or eight for the memory of Heyer's amazing prose to grow dim. But believe me, you'll know when I'm ready. *winks and leers*
Ooh I hadn't seen Smart Bitches! Thanks, looks like an awesome resource!
*lol* I can see the Austin Powers resemblance but the racier?! *giggles uncontrollably* After the Regency romance I just read by a lady named Loretta Chase, 'racier' is the diametrical opposite of Heyer!
Oh god, totally understandable. And I mean I don't want to put you off watching Season Two but even I find, with the time elapsed since my own losses, that sometimes it just hits too close to home and triggers me off. But then good writing should do that. :p
Heh, I do agree the cast of Pushing Daisies is awesome. I pretty much love every single aspect except the dialogue which makes it all the more frustrating. But then I haven't had a chance to see the second season yet so here's hoping! *crosses fingers*
Man, I hope the movie of Dead Like Me is awesome too!
