rats and buckbeaks

So I finally broke my boycott.

I watched Prisoner Of Azkaban.

Suffice it to say that all my fears and suspicions were proved right.

Urgh!

I think I'll go back to my boycott and quit disappointing myself with crap film versions of my favourite books.

Okaaaaayyy, Criminal Intent is on ... what day is this? I'm very confused now. Is it Sunday? ( Read more... )

film, reviews, telly, rowling

Prisoner of Azkaban sucked completely. They left out IMPORTANT explanations so they could fit in long shots of Harry riding Buckbeak. 'Cause, y'know, that really moves the plot forward.

And Remus gave off a hella creepy paedophile vibe through the whole thing.

Elizabeth read the books just before Goblet of Fire came out, 'cause she'd seen the other three movies and wanted to go and see it and I was worried it would be scary. So I told her that she had to read the book first, and then tell me if she still wanted to see it. She's a pretty good judge of what will and will not scare her. So, of course, she had to read the three books before it.(And, I'm proud to say, she also read Order of the Phoenix. But Half-Blood Prince proved a bit too daunting, which was fair enough.)

She came to me after she'd read Prisoner of Azkaban and said "The story makes sense now!"

Oh my god. I am so thankful I'm not the only one who thought ALL of the above. *cries a lil*

And GO ELIZABETH!! I love that lil cutie!! Cos I was wondering that, whether I only found it so utterly fucking disjointed and cursory and careless because I had read the book before. I was totally flabbergasted and yet thinking "well, hey, maybe it does make sense to people who haven't read the books ( ... )

Oh, dude. I so hate the HP movies, yet I keep going to see them. :( PoA left me ranting for DAYS, however.

Also? It's not a good idea to re-read the book right up until the moment the lights go down in the theatre. You will be glaringly reminded of what was left out and re-done.

*lol* I have to admit I ranted for several pages in my private journal and now in the comment above. I just couldn't believe the total mockery they made of such a freaking excellent book.

HA!! I haven't read the book for aaaages, Ronda, but I'll tell ya I knew EVERY single time and thing they changed or fucked around. Didn't even have to think about it, my skin just crawled. And you know sometimes films can make books better. Like Burton's Charlie & The Chocolate Factory. Totally improved the book for me.

NOT here!

Urgh. But yeah, I went on to watch Goblet Of Fire and I prolly will keep watching them. Totally know what you mean. How can we do otherwise, right? Always in the hope that they might actually get it right for once.

Was Goblet on too? No haven't seen it yet.

True, but celebrity perfumes have already been done, so now it just seems tacky to me.

Yeah, I think it was on the next night but can totally understand why you wouldn't have continued. Me, I just got it out on DVD.

And Ari, Goblet's actually not too bad at all. *nod* I was rather impressed. Also, Voldemort scared the living daylights out of me. I didn't even KNOW who'd been cast as him! Practically passed out with happiness when I looked it up. *beams*
