Dri, darling, these beautiful creatures surpass the male list by far. Alison Goldfrapp...I am speechless (kitten? psycho? fiend? goddess?). Sarah Blasko looks like a grown-up Maggie Gyllenhaal (whom I <3), Shirley Manson is teh sex, and Lisa Marie Presley - I want to steal that picture so badly. Christina Ricci was hot until she decided to go uber-skinny, it looks unnatural on her (even Wednesday was slightly pudgy and adorable).

I know, it's depressing how much easier it is to find beautiful pictures of talented women than beautiful pictures of talented men.

You know what? I'm gonna make an icon of Alison with those captions. And when I do, you're most welcome to use if the mood strikes you. Cos you are SO RIGHT. Is she or isn't she any or all of those things? Fascinating woman.

Mmm, I never did notice the Maggie resemblance to Sarah. Must ponder this further. I think you might have a point but I'm not certain. Sarah seems to change with every pic.

But, yeah, I agree with the weirdness of Christina's skinniness lately ... which is why I chose an older chubbier pic. That's the Ricci I know and love.

Shilpa is dating a guy who lives in the same buidling as Christina Ricci and they ran into her recently in the lobby. Shilpa said she looked horrible...because she's so awfully skinny and she has a large head..so she looked like some sort of human lollipop. *l*

Hmm, that's interesting - do you think that perhaps talented women are expected to be attractive as well as intelligent/wonderful/fierce, more than men are, in the same situation? I don't think anyone can "just be", because I think the soul is a many-layered, intricate and contradictory thing - but within the confines of that, are male performers allowed to "just be" more than women performers?

God, yes, absolutely. I remember seeing/reading Shirley Manson say almost exactly that ... women are expected to be attractive as well as intelligent/wonderful/fierce, more than men are, in the same situation. Quite annoying, huh? Cos damnit I want my men to be just as attractively photographed and stylised.
