Does anyone know how to close down an account at Tor? I can't find any help, I can't find any instructions, I can find heaps of legal "if you do bad things we may close your account" stuff, so I'm wondering if the easiest way is committing massive copyright infringement????

Yep, tor.com, thanks, I'll give that email a whirl.

I've vowed that I'm not following any more links to posts about You Know What, but I understood it had spread to the Tor site.

I never created an account over there in the first place. Just one too many places to go and I actuallly felt a bit peeved that they might drag talented bloggers over onto their site, which after all is commercial and devoted to their own titles.

Well, I was just looking through my stuff and I realised I wasn't using that account, and I didn't feel comfortable having it anymore. I don't know if it's "devoted" to their own titles - the blogging seems to cover a variety of titles.

I know the whole thing is ugly and I can understand wanting to stay clear of it. But I can also understand why a whole heap of people who aren't white are really angry, because in a sense this is something they can't stay clear of - this is symptomatic of their entire experience in science fiction fandom. And at least it's out in the open now.

Erm, you sure you want to know? ;-)

I was going to try to attempt to summarise, but luckily, other people have done so already and I'm going to steal their work.
A brief initial summary here
A slightly longer summary which assumes you already know the previous.

(You may also need to know that Teresa Nielsen-Hayden is a "big name" science fiction fan and former editor at Tor, and her husband Patrick is also a big-name fan and currently the head editor or something like that at Tor.)

I suppose you could post a link to a graphic novel using characters originally created by Marvel[tm] Comics to dramatize a detailed exposition of the contents of the Secret Scientology[tm] Scriptures... that should do the trick if anything would.

No, in fact an email did the trick - an email to their "questions" address. I was just snarky initially because when I was on the website, I could find so much information about reasons they might close my account, and nothing about if I wanted to close my account.
