LOL, how you survive reading fanfic, then, is a mystery to me. *g*
I used to be bothered by little things like that, but I've developed the habit of ignoring things and not letting small mistakes detract from my overall enjoyment of the story. I read an article posted on the Associated Press wire the other day and it had multiple, egregious errors. I could only shake my head. If the professsionals can't get it right all the time, it's hard to expect perfection from amateurs, especially.
Then, too, I often think that reading fanfic, in particular, is more about supporting the writer and revisiting a world. I try not to let form overtake function in my mind. ;)
Oh, yeah, perfection is a lot to ask. I don't mind mistakes - I make typos and spell things wrong all the time. It's just when it gets overwhelming that I can't stand it. And then there are those trigger words or phrases that just turn me off. I won't stop reading a story because the author writes that someone has a soft smile but it dampens my enjoyment
