BJD--channeling heathcliff ... iplehouse nc tedros

Nov 15, 2010 23:31

I haven't posted here in ages... but that doesn't mean I don't have dolls to show (or art stuff, or reading/book stuff). New this year is an Iplehouse Noctarcana Circus Tedros Circus Master. I never thought I'd go for the big more realistic sculpts, but Iplehouse got to me!

Heh. Nothing like a BJD to help when feeling a bit blue! (I'm still dealing with stuff to do with my Dad's estate... Well, at least I have a good reason for feeling a little depressed.) It's been about a year. I'll be posting more, now, I think. I definitely have more doll stuff and art stuff to post about... I just need to get around to doing it (not that I'm doing all that much else lately...!).

I never thought the Iplehouse dolls would be my style, but they had been really getting to me. I'd been watching all the Akando posts, and pretty much all the big, muscle-y guys that have come along since... the Model version helped, and then Tedros came along... I positive abhor facial hair, but for some reason I couldn't resist this guy!

and I've got an SID sized Iplehouse guy on layaway! *____*

Thanks for commenting! I hope you're doing OK, too!

I was trying so hard to avoid the big guys... but finally caved! And as often happens, now I can't seem to stop buying the larger-than-large guys!

Thanks for the nice thoughts. I remember that you were going through quite a bit a while back, too. Ah, life. What can you do?

I'm not socializing much these days... maybe doll stuff. It's too bad Volks isn't holding events out here any more. I'd be all over that! But yeah, maybe we can do lunch or something sometime... ^___^

Good to see you again, April. melvh November 16 2010, 14:44:21 UTC
Now you see, that's the first one of those I've seen that I'd actually be interested in acquiring. Except that I need a new clutch, a new dishwasher, a new fridge......

Real Life gets in the way of getting these doll... Except that I'm totally ignoring Real Life these days!

Good luck in getting the clutch, the dishwasher and the fridge!

I know what you mean... It's a bit--strange--thinking about a doll that way! (But... oh, well!) ^___^

Yeah, Heathcliff is a total piece of work in the book. I saw the films first, which usually focus on the more romantic elements, so I didn't have as bad an opinion. I didn't mind the book, but it's definitely grim!

And... that's partially why I was using the Kate Bush lyrics... kinda puts a step away from the book.

My guy isn't pining after Cathy. He was just looking Heathcliff-y in the photos (and yeah, I've got Heathcliff as a middle name, but mostly 'cause he's got that English Gypsy look about him).

Oooo he'd make a great gypsy prince! Nice thought. I was force feed that book in high school. All the girls in class were mooning over how romantic he was and I just detested him. I do like the movie version with Timothy Dalton though. And I love the Kate Bush song!

So loved Dalton as Heathcliff when I was a kid. I didn't read _Wuthering Heights_ until later... and it was by my own choice. I think we covered _Jane Eyre_ in class... or maybe not even that! (I think we read _To Kill a Mockingbird_ and "Romeo and Juliet" and that was about it... gah... California schools! ... which is probably why I went on to be an English Major in college... not enough stuff being forced on me in high school to give me an aversion!) ^_____^
