You will hate your first SOP and justifiably so, but it won't mean that you aren't smart/motivated/advanced/creative enough to get into graduate school.

START EARLY!!!

I had a busy semester, and could not do this, and was writing SoPs the day before the ap was due. Big mistake, and did damage to my applications over all. Also, starting early leaves time for mistakes, and will save you money on shipping when you don't have to rush things.

Packets for your LOR writers. Wish I had time to do that...

I didn't have time to do this because I was still narrowing down my choices over the last few months, only applying to three schools, so I did everything digitally.

I did this and I think it was greatly beneficial. I paper-clipped each envelope for each school to according papers and forms needed for LOR's to fill out and then a pre-stamped envelope so they could just drop it off. It was wonderful and I know my LOR's appreciated it.

Yes, this! I gave each of mine a copy of my transcript, an SOP draft, and the forms from each school.
