Wait until after the deadline to pass before you say anything. You've already reminded him once and it apparently rubbed him the wrong way. If you irritate him again before its actually due, he might get angry. If you wait until after the deadline passes, and he is in fact late - you have more ground to stand on when addressing the issue. In addition, most programs allow late LORs as this tends to happen a lot, as long as all other items are in.

Sorry they probably just like doing things last minute.....maybe email him the day of and say something like, the letter is due today by midnight let me know if u need help. and then if you still don't hear back write another email a few days after the deadline and tell him that you will not be considered now thanks to him (but say it nicely or something)and he will write back saying so sorry or something and then you can ask him if he doesn't mind to send in a late one to be considered. i hope it works out for you!!!!! good luck!!

My adviser likes to wait until the very last second. Literally. I don't know your relationship with your professor, but I have a fairly candid one with mine, so when I sent her a reminder e-mail the day before my first deadline, she sent me a "Don't worry" message, and it was sent in on time. I'm not sure about your particular situation, but I know from experience that some teachers will really make you squirm, even if they get it done.

This may ease your concerns as well: schools know that LOR writers submit their letters late ALL. THE. TIME. and it is very unlikely to be held against you if it arrives a little late.

As others have suggested, wait until after the deadline has passed, and then write another email/call/drop by in person (if that is an option).

Good luck! My deadlines are 1/1 and I have yet to receive a single letter! But I know that my letter writers are working on them, and I refuse to worry about something I just can't control.

good luck!

Eh, I am pretty close to all my letter writers, and they've all been in constant communication with me, so I know that they will send out letters & I know they will be incredibly thoughtful. I also know they will go out at the very last possible minute.

Ah, thank god it is almost over! Of course, then comes three months of biting my nails

Are all of your apps in, gradtheory?

yep, i submitted all of them 6 weeks ago. although i took the GRE again TODAY because due to some mix-up in administrative information, 1 school informed me last month that they considered my scores to be a tad old. now it's almost on to the next part of it - the wait!!

good luck with the apps!
