FAFSA and such

I know I'm early, but how does FAFSA work when you're still applying to schools? Do you just send your FAFSA results to all the schools that might, maybe need it?

I think so. I don't think they charge you for it. It probably says on the FAFSA site if it's X free and so much for each after that.

I only sent in my FAFSA form to the program that I accepted. I didn't even think about it until they started harassing me about the issue after April 15th

Wait until you get in and are narrowing it down to a few schools--it'll be easier for you. You can EASILY wait until March-ish.

some larger schools hand out aid on the order in which your application was received and if you wait until march you can loose out. I recommend sending it to all the schools you're applying to as its free.

I don't recommend waiting until March, particularly if you want to be able to get Perkins loans (which are an even better deal than Stafford loans because they are also subsidized, have a longer grace period [9 months instead of 6], and have a lower fixed interest rate). Those funds may already be disbursed if you wait until March to send the FAFSA. The financial aid office and your department likely won't be in communication. Sending the FAFSA to multiple schools is free, so I advise filling it out right after Jan 1 and sending it to everywhere you apply.
