I read somewhere that there is going to be a new math section with a fill-in the blank and a new text completion question (my 2010 Princeton Review book.) When will that be? I am taking the test on October 2009.

I think they are testing it now, I saw it on what I assume was my experimental section. So, you will see it on GREs you take now, it just might not count towards your score. However, always treat all the sections like they are real even if you strongly suspect they are experimental.

It's just in the experimental phase right now. I'm not sure when you should expect it on the actual test though..if it's in the 2010 Princeton Review book, I would guess 2010.

Yeah they were testing it when I took it earlier this year. I started taking it, realized how tired I was and how I did NOT want to do any more math, and stopped.

I'm taking it on monday. I'd love to be able to skip the rest of the section once I saw the experimental question type. BUT WHAT IF IT ACTUALLY COUNTS?!?!?!?!

Good luck! I will pray for ya.

(I am not one of those religious freaks who says "I will pray for you" for everything but I pray for anybody who is taking the GRE. ha ha)

I took it last month, and the experimental section (mine was verbal) included only new question types, and stated upfront that it was optional and would not count. This was definitely not the way it worked when I took the test last time (two years ago), so maybe being honest rather than sneaky is something new they're trying?
