More of a whine than a request for advice

I'm really hating the task of trying to figure out which programs to apply to. There are so many! I feel almost as if I could either apply to only a few (like, two or three), or a lot, depending on how perfect a match I require the program to be. But until I've had the spare time to sit down and really look at all of the programs, I won't know ( Read more... )

Well, this really varies as to MA vs. PhD, professional vs. academic, but...

Are there scholars that you passionately want to work with at all these schools? If it is a really good match for you and your research interests, I wouldn't imagine that there'd be a lot of choices.

The researchers I most admire are affiliated with schools that don't have doctoral programs, which isn't particularly helpful to me, since I already have a masters ( ... )

I'm a Communication PhD student who does new media/technology research at a top 10 Comm department. :) My department is SOOOOOO not applied, otherwise I'd recommend it to you. We are also ultra quantitative, which some people don't dig ( ... )

Wish that was my problem -- there is basically one school in the country that specializes in my field, and one that is strong in it.
