Good for you, on that job!

As I've written about here, one of my BFFs is transgender, although officially and openly only in the past few years. Last week, she picketed the American Psychiatric Association convention (I think that was the event) over their planned new DSM that continues to identify transgender as a form of mental illness.

Thanks! And props to your friend for speaking out against the APA's new DSM. I've heard a great deal of debate over it, and I think that it's an interesting one. I discussed the issue with a psychologist friend of mine who acknowledged that identifying trans men and women as disabled might be a good thing for them, as it could get them protection under many laws. It could allow them health coverage for their transitions and anti-discrimination coverage under disability laws. I see it as demeaning, but the argument makes some good points...

Congratulations on this reflective milestone tonight. FWIW, I think you're an interesting, broad as well as open-minded person!!

I'm so glad you've done 2/3 of law school! those odds sound...doable. it unfortunate you don't LOVE it, but you didn't sign up for law school to it forever...it is a means to an end. Again FWIW, I hated nursing school and wouldn't trade being a nurse for the world... Just LOL about how you low to help people stick up for their rights and sitck it to people who took advantage of them...that has to feel awesome.

I'm glad you happy. I think you deserve to be! Do bask in some of your own hard work, Laura!! And i want to say that you're future is bright...it's blinding. Your whole life is in front of you! (I felt this way 3-4 years ago...and still do, sort of...it's wonderful. (BTW, no solid plans for this summer yet, but I totally hope to see you!!)
