Chapter One - The Toyota and the Ferrari

--

Kiseop sighed as he saw the boss coming towards him. His eyes shifted from the net in his hands to the crowd of women, and some men, standing at the gates of the closed pool while he was cleaning it up. He pulled his cap down lower over his face and pretended not to notice the boss standing there with his arms crossed over his chest.

Kiseop continued to clean that part of the pool until his boss cleared his throat to get his attention. Now it was going to be difficult to pretend that he didn’t notice his presence.

“Ahem.”

“Oh. Boss. When did you get here?” He said looking up in mock surprise. His boss rolled his eyes at the grin on Kiseop’s face as he leaned on the pole of the net. “Kiseop, how many times do I have to tell you to wear the appropriate uniform when you’re working?”

“That’s probably not the best way to put it.” Alexander threw his hands in the air and rolled his eyes as Kiseop laughed. He adjusted his cap and picked at his t-shirt. “It was hot today. And I forgot my sunscreen, and I didn’t wanna burn,” he whined to him. Alexander gave him a stern look and held up five fingers.

“You have five seconds.”

“But Alexander!”

“Five. Four. Three.” Kiseop sighed and took off his cap before grabbing the hem of his shirt and pulling it over his head, stuffing it into the pocket of his black shorts, letting it hang out like it was a wash cloth.

A deafening scream came from the closed gates of the pool. Kiseop winced before replacing the red cap over his messy blonde hair. He could hear the gates groaning as they strained to keep them back. Alexander smiled at him and patted him on the shoulder. “I hired you because you have a nice body. Show off those gate breaking abs.” He gave him two thumbs up and a bright smile.

Kiseop just shook his head. “If they break the gates, and I can’t finish, it’s not going to come out of my paycheck is it?” He called after his boss’s retreating back. Alexander just turned and shrugged before waving goodbye.

Kiseop sighed as he turned his attention back to the people at the gates. He gave them a short wave and a grin before going back to cleaning the pool. The screams started up again, this time, much, much louder. He should’ve known better than to get a job at the hotel.

--

Break Time Hotel, a chain of hotels founded by Alexander and Soohyun. They were famous for hiring an all male staff of eye candy. Most people called it the fan service hotels. Shirtless pool boys with nice bodies, pretty boys in flattering uniforms, and the best thing was, they were all so charming.

The first and original Break Time Hotel was where Alexander and Soohyun kept their offices. Soohyun was the slightly more responsible of the two, coming to work on time most days and taking care of paperwork. Alexander was more of the hands on type, preferring to wander around the hotel and doing whatever he could to help.

But when Alexander opened the door to their office, he found Soohyun asleep over a pile of papers. He gave him a mild look of disgust before knocking on the door loudly. Soohyun suddenly sat up, a piece of paper stuck to his face.

“Oh my gosh,” Alexander said with another look of disgust as Soohyun pulled the paper off of his face, looking at it with a grossed out expression on his face. He crumpled it up and threw it into the trash bin under his desk before smiling at Alexander.

“About time you got here. There is so much freaking paperwork to do. I think I’m drowning. Where were you?”

“Checking up on the new pool boy.”

“You hired a new pool boy?” Soohyun asked as Alexander sat down at his desk, cracking his knuckles before wiggling his fingers around, eyes roaming around the top of his desk. “Yes I did,” he said in a sing song voice. “His name is Kiseop. And you’d love him, he has a gorgeous body.”

“Is it nicer than mine?” Alexander gave him another scandalized look. “That’s like comparing a Ferrari to a Toyota. Yes, his body is nicer than yours.”

--

Soohyun was curious now. Alexander didn’t usually hire people without telling him. He could only imagine what the new pool boy looked like. Alexander had a thing for blonds, natural or not. There was a maid working in the building somewhere that Alexander had his eye on. Soohyun noticed it when he came back to the office smelling like lemon pledge all the time.

He found himself wandering into the front lobby, where a very young looking boy was standing behind the front desk, sticking his tongue out as he pressed buttons on the keyboard rapidly. Soohyun laughed to himself and leaned over on the counter of the front desk for a moment. The boy was completely oblivious until Soohyun reached a hand out to cover the screen.

“No! NO! AISH! Thanks boss.” The boy threw his hands up in exasperation. Soohyun just laughed. “I don’t pay you to play computer games at work, Dongho. No matter how much everyone loves you.” Dongho just gave him a cutesy smile with a peace sign. “I’m pretty sure a majority of your clientele might go on strike and try to sue you if they fired me. Older women love me.” He shrugged and smiled.

Soohyun was about to say something until he heard laughter erupt from the front of the lobby. He turned to look, and saw Eli, the bellhop laughing at a shirtless boy with a red cap on, who was leaning against the baggage trolly. He recognized the black fancy shorts as part of the pool boy uniform.

“Is that the new pool boy?” He asked in a daze. He had such a nice jawline. Nice facial features. And very nice abs.

“Yeah. I think his name is Kiseop or something. He always has some of the customers following him around. People gather around the pool in the morning to watch him clean.” Soohyun watched Kiseop pull his cap to the side with a grin, ruffling the bangs poking out from under the cap.

“You need to start working out more boss. I think he has a nicer body than you.” Soohyun rolled his eyes at the comment. “No need to tell me. Alexander made a delightful analogy earlier today that I don’t care to repeat. I guess I’ll go introduce myself.”

--

Eli liked the new guy. It was already amazing that he rode across the lobby in the baggage trolly twice without falling off of it. It was even more amazing that after they got to talking, that Kiseop told him his personal talent was shoving coins up his nose. That’s when Eli started laughing.

“Dude. That is ridiculous. Who the hell shoves coins up their nose in their free time?” Kiseop just laughed and glanced out the double doors. More customers were coming in. “Well, I’ll get out of your hair then and let you do your job. It was nice meeting you Eli.”

“Yeah, same here,” Eli said before turning his attention to the new guests. Kiseop turned to leave and almost bumped into another man. “Oh hey there. Sorry,” he said sheepishly. He shivered a bit in the lobby. It was pretty cold inside, and even though he was done for now, he still hadn’t put his shirt on yet.

The other man just held up his hands and grinned. “You’re the new pool boy?” Kiseop nodded and smiled before making his bubble face and looking around the lobby. Soohyun almost died. That face was too cute on him. “My name is Soohyun. I’m one of the owners.” He extended his hand out as Kiseop’s eyes widened, his hand pulling his cap off of his head.

“Oh! Alexander told me about you. Something about a Toyota and a Ferrari. It’s nice to meet you.” Kiseop reached out and grabbed his hand, shaking it firmly. A blast of cold air entered the lobby as the air condition turned back on, making Kiseop tense a little bit at the cold air. Soohyun noticed his muscles tense and ripple, and even saw the small bumps rising on his skin as his hair stood on end. He resisted the urge to look somewhere else to see if he was really cold.

“Cold? I know you can’t wear shirts whenever you’re outside cleaning, but the rule doesn’t apply inside.” Kiseop let go of his hand and pulled his shirt out of his pocket. “Looks like I keep getting it backwards then.” Much to Soohyun’s disappointment, Kiseop pulled his shirt on and smoothed out the wrinkles with his hand.

“Who’s rule is that anyway? Who came up with the ‘No shirts when outside’ thing?” Soohyun just looked off in another direction. “It was Alexander’s. But I didn’t object to it, so I guess I’m just as guilty. Have you had lunch yet?” The growl that emitted from Kiseop’s stomach answered his question for him.

Kiseop laughed sheepishly and rubbed the back of his neck. “Obviously not,” Soohyun said with a smile. “Come on. I’ll take you to lunch. Courtesy of the boss.”

--

They were enjoying a light conversation when a third plate of food was laid on the table next to them, Alexander sighing and sitting down next to Soohyun with a pout on his face. The other pair blinked at him for a moment while he stared back. “Well aren’t you going to ask me why I’m intruding?” Soohyun and Kiseop looked at each other before shaking their heads.

“I wasn’t going to ask,” Soohyun said, dabbing at his lips with a napkin. He flinched as he felt something hit his face lightly and glared at Kiseop, who was looking in a different direction innocently, lips wrapped around the straw in his drink.

His eyes narrowed as he looked at the other boy suspiciously. “I see what you did there,” he said slowly as his eyes traveled down to the straw wrapper sitting on the table in front of him. “Seriously guys? You’re not going to ask?” Alexander looked between the two of them with the same pout.

“What’s wrong?” Kiseop asked brightly as he set his drink down. “Thank you! I thought no one would ask. Kevin was supposed to meet me for lunch, and he’s not here.” Soohyun let out a snort of laughter as Kiseop raised an eyebrow.

“Really? How scandalous.” Alexander rolled his eyes before crumpling up a napkin and throwing it at Kiseop. “The both of you are exactly the same.” Kiseop laughed and threw the napkin back on the table. “Knowing Kevin, it’s probably because he forgot.”

“You know Kevin?” The both of them asked surprised. Kiseop looked between the two of them with mild confusion. “Well yeah. He’s my roommate. He’s the one that recommended that I apply here for a job.” Soohyun made a mental note to give Kevin a slight raise.

“Yeah. He’s probably cleaning up somewhere or locked out of a room because he forgot his key card or something.” Soohyun sat there and thought for a moment.

“Well it could be Alexander’s fault too. He probably forgot to tell him to meet for lunch, or told him to meet him somewhere else or something.”

“That’s stupid, Soohyun. How could I forget...” Suddenly something dawned on him. His jaw dropped as he looked off to the side. “You forgot to tell him didn’t you?” Soohyun said smiling, bending over to poke Alexander in the face.

“No, I told him to meet me in the office! Oh!” He bounced in his seat for a moment before getting up. “Alexander!” Alexander froze and sighed. Soohyun couldn’t help but start laughing. Kiseop grinned and turned to the owner of the voice with a smile. “Hi Kevin. Wanna join us for lunch?” Kevin looked positively angry, but with his face and in his uniform, he just looked adorable.

“Kevin! Don’t be mad! I forgot, I really did!” Kevin hmphed and sat down next to Kiseop, crossing his arms over his chest. “You always forget. That’s always your excuse. Do you not love me?” He asked dramatically. Kiseop laid his head on Kevin’s shoulder and poked him in the arm a few times.

“He thought it was your fault.” Soohyun shook his head and started laughing as Alexander glared at him. “Excuse me. It was you saying that he probably forgot.”

“Well, you didn’t disagree with me so you’re just as guilty.” Kevin just rolled his eyes and shrugged Kiseop off of his shoulder. “I’ll forgive you because you’re my best friend, and you do this all the time. But you!” Alexander smiled sheepishly and pushed his plate over to Kevin slowly.

“I got you food?” Kevin regarded the plate of food in front of him carefully before smiling brightly like nothing was wrong. “Thank you! I’ll forgive you this time!” He took a bite of the food and chewed happily. “But if it happens again, something bad with happen to you,” he said with his mouth full, pointing at him with the fork.

Kiseop and Soohyun grinned at each other from across the table as Alexander sighed in relief. “You two sound like such a happy couple.”

“Alexander sounds whipped to me.” Soohyun and Kiseop high fived over the table as Alexander tried not to reach out and grab Soohyun by the ear.

“We’re not dating.”

“I’m glad you think- Wait what? We’re not dating?” Kevin dropped his eating utensils.

“We are?” Alexander asked, staring at Kevin across the table. “I would think we were! How come you don’t think we are? I thought it was obvious!” Kiseop noticed that murderous look in Kevin’s eyes before he gritted his teeth and signaled for Soohyun to follow him.

The both of them slipped out of their chairs quietly and hurried off. “Well they’ve got their fair share of problems, now don’t they?” Kiseop sighed and shook his head laughing before checking his watch. “And I’m due for another round around the pools before I start lifeguard duty.”

Soohyun pursed his lips. “Aren’t you supposed to wait half an hour after you eat before you swim?” Kiseop rolled his eyes and laughed. “I’m not doing any swimming.” He saluted him with two fingers and walked off down the hallways. “Thanks for lunch, boss!”

Soohyun watched his retreating back and smiled. “That’s what you think.” He smiled and hurried off to his office.
