Soccer practice started again when March came. The weather was starting to warm up at least. That’s what Sunggyu chanted in his head as the wind blew chills down his spine as he and Sungyeol watched the others practice.
Sungjong was standing at the front while Sunggyu and Sungyeol sat on the bleachers with their homework out.
“Myungsoo’s so good at sports. He looks so cool in those shorts and that jersey,” Sungjong sighed as he bounced up and down.
“I’m sure he’s freezing,” Sungyeol said, not looking up from his homework. Sunggyu looked between them before shaking his head. Their newly found friendship over Myungsoo gave him the creeps. He wasn’t sure why, but it almost made him uncomfortable.
“That’s not what I meant!” Sungjong whined, turning around to punch Sungyeol in the arm.
“I know. But it’s cold. And I guess it comes with being on the soccer team. Off season soccer is so boring.”
“Soccer in general is boring, but Myungsoo likes it so...” Sunggyu for the life of him could not figure out why it wasn’t bothering Sungyeol that Sungjong was talking about Myungsoo that way.
“He prefers photography over soccer,” Sungyeol said, looking up from his homework. Sungjong frowned and turned around to the field before looking at Sungyeol again.
“Really? He was only gone for a few months, and I don’t even know him anymore.” Sungjong sat down on the ledge below them with a pout as Sungyeol reached out to pat him on the back.
Sunggyu decided that he wouldn’t try to figure out the dynamics of their friendship. It was too taxing on his brain.
--
“Oh my god, it’s freezing, I can’t believe you sat out there for all of soccer practice. I should’ve given you my keys so you could wait in the car,” Woohyun said as he pulled his jacket around him closer. Sunggyu leaned over and wrapped his arms around him as they made their way to the car and blew hot air into his ear.
Woohyun flinched away from him, turning to give him a look of disbelief. Sunggyu laughed and pressed their cheeks together.
“Warm yet?”
“No, I’m still cold,” Woohyun said as they reached the car. Sunggyu laughed as he unlocked the passenger door for him first before running over to the driver’s seat.
“Sungyeol, I’m cold.”
“What am I supposed to do about that?” Sungyeol asked, glancing at Myungsoo. Myungsoo sighed before grabbing onto him the same way Sunggyu grabbed onto Woohyun.
“I’ll hug you!” Sungjong hugged into Myungsoo as he hugged onto Sungyeol. Sungyeol was suddenly dragging two people behind him, rolling his eyes as he made his way over to the car.
“Where are Dongwoo and Hoya?” Sunggyu asked as he sat down in the front seat.
“Right here.” Sunggyu jumped a little bit as Woohyun scrambled to get into the car and get his seat belt on. Dongwoo and Hoya were already sitting in the back seat, Dongwoo almost on Hoya’s lap.
“Are all of us going to fit into the car?” Sungyeol asked as he leaned over to take a look. Dongwoo scooted over some more to sit in Hoya’s lap as Sungyeol detached Myungsoo’s arms and crawled inside.
Sungjong pulled Myungsoo back before climbing into the car and settling comfortably in Sungyeol’s lap. Sungyeol leaned back in his seat with an eyebrow raised before shrugging his shoulders and turning to look at Myungsoo.
“Hurry up! It’s freezing!”
“You’ve got to be kidding me,” Myungsoo said, staring at the two before getting in with a frown on his face. Woohyun chuckled at the disgruntled look on Myungsoo’s face before driving off.

There was a knock in the door in the morning while Sunggyu and Sungyeol were finishing up breakfast. Both of them looked at each other, clearly confused.
Sunggyu’s mom went to open the door to see Hoya at the door with another expensive car behind him, Dongwoo at the wheel.
“Oh. Where’s Woohyun?”
“He got sick from practice yesterday. I told him he was too much of a pansy.” Sunggyu looked up with concern.
“Is he okay?”
“He’ll be fine, but he’s a wimp when he gets sick. He probably sent you texts telling you about how much he feels like he’s dying.” Sunggyu reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone to see almost ten messages from Woohyun.
From: My Namstar
omg. i think im dying.
From: My Namstar
im not joking. i think i died.
From: My Namstar
sunggyuuuuu. come take care of me. im dying. its my last wish.
Sungyeol glanced over his shoulder and laughed at the last text.
“His last wish? Jeeze.”
--
Sunggyu spent all day sending texts back and forth with Woohyun, almost getting caught twice. He really was a baby when it came to getting sick.
“Sunggyu! Where’s Woohyun today?”
“Sick. I’ll get his work and give it to him if you want me to.”
--
Sunggyu took the bus to the stop closest to Woohyun’s house. From there, it would take Sunggyu about twenty minutes to get there. Dongwoo offered to give him a ride to Woohyun’s house before practice, but Sunggyu declined, finally understanding why Woohyun preferred to drive. Dongwoo drove like a mad man, and he really felt sorry for Myungsoo, Sungyeol, and Sungjong later.
It didn’t seem to faze Hoya for some strange reason. Maybe Hoya was just better at hiding the fact that he was scared for his life.
The wind was still cold, so Sunggyu wrapped up a little bit heavier before leaving for school that morning. He didn’t want to get sick, too.
When he finally reached the gates of the large estate, he pressed the intercom at the gates and rubbed at the top of his cheeks to get some feeling back into them.
“Hello?”
“Hi, it’s Sunggyu. I heard Woohyun was sick.”
“Oh, Sunggyu! Come on in. It must be freezing out there!” The gates opened as Sunggyu hastily made his way inside, the cold numbing the feeling in his leg. He would probably have to take his medication here after he warmed up a little bit.
“Hey, Sunggyu. He’s in his room.”
“Where’s the kitchen? I wanted to make him some soup or something to bring to his room.” Woohyun’s mom gave him a slightly surprised look before giving him a fond smile and pinching his cheek.
“You’re so adorable. This way.”
--
“It feels like dying. No, I’m not exaggerating,” Woohyun said on the phone to Dongwoo. Practice was over, and Woohyun called to check up on people to make sure Dongwoo hadn’t killed anyone.
“Where’s Sunggyu?”
“What? What do you mean?”
“What do you mean, what do I mean?”
“Sunggyu. Is he there? Put him on the phone.”
“Sunggyu’s not here. He left a while ago. He said he was going to your place before practice started.” Woohyun blinked a few times before starting to freak out.
“What? You’re kidding me. He’s not here. I’ll call you back later.” Woohyun’s panic started to rise as he pressed the number for Sunggyu on his speed dial.
It rang four times before going to voicemail. Woohyun let out a cry of despair and dropped his phone, throwing the covers off and crawling off of his bed.
“What kind of noise was that?” Woohyun looked over to his door and saw Sunggyu push his way in, holding a tray of soup and other things.
“You’re kidding me.” Suddenly, he felt tired again and crawled back into bed.
“Your mom says you’ve been dying. You look fine to me,” Sunggyu said as he limped over to the bed.
“Jeeze, your leg. Have you taken your medicine?”
“Have you taken your medicine?” Sunggyu asked as Woohyun scooted closer to the edge of his bed so Sunggyu could place the tray over his lap.
“I slaved away in the kitchen to make this soup for you. Your mom was laughing at me the entire time, telling me to let the cooks do it.” Woohyun stared at the soup in the bowl with a raised eyebrow.
“Is this safe for me to eat?”
“What do it matter? You’re dying, remember?” Sunggyu pulled himself onto Woohyun’s bed. He reached into his pocket and pulled out his medicine bottle and grabbed Woohyun’s water to wash it down.
“Look at that. You’re like, an hour late taking your medication. Is this what happens when I’m gone?” Woohyun said, shaking his head. He picked up his spoon and took a sip of Sunggyu’s soup. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t as good as anything Woohyun could make.
“I brought your school work too, but that can wait until after you’re done eating.”
“What? But I’m dying. I don’t have time for school work.” Sunggyu rolled his eyes as he reached over to feel Woohyun’s forehead.
“You don’t feel that hot. You don’t sound that sick anymore either.”
“Well. I always feel better when you’re around.” Sunggyu made a gagging noise as Woohyun turned to him and made kissy faces.
“Hey. Hey. I don’t want to get sick with that you have. Even though it doesn’t look that bad.” Woohyun finished off his soup and took a sip of his water.
“How was Dongwoo’s driving this morning?”
“How did you know Dongwoo drove?”
“If Hoya drove, then none of you would be alive.” Woohyun remembered being in the back seat while Hoya was learning to drive. Never again. Sunggyu laughed.
“It was... a little bit scary. Your texts made it sound like the world was ending.”
“It might as well have been ending.” Woohyun slid down under the covers as Sunggyu removed the tray and placed it onto Woohyun’s gigantic nightstand.
“You’re such a baby,” Sunggyu said as Woohyun snuggled closer to him, closing his eyes. When he didn’t get an answer, he rolled his eyes again before bringing his hand out to stroke Woohyun’s hair.
“I can’t believe you let yourself get sick.”
--
Myungsoo took a nap after practice, letting Sungjong and Sungyeol do whatever it was they did in the living room while he passed out under the covers. When he woke up again, Sungyeol was snuggled up against him, and Sungjong was nowhere in sight.
“Sungyeol, where’s Sungjong?”
“Went home,” Sungyeol mumbled, burying his face into Myungsoo’s chest.
“I see how it is. When Sungjong’s here, you’re all over him, but when he’s gone, you come crawling back to me.” Sungyeol chuckled before wrapping his arm tighter over Myungsoo’s waist.
“Pretty much.” Myungsoo frowned before bending his head down and kissing Sungyeol on the forehead.
“I hate you.”
“Jealous?” Sungyeol looked up and smirked a sleepy smirk. Myungsoo looked off in another direction.
“No.”
“You are. Don’t lie,” Sungyeol said with a smile on his face. He reached up and poked Myungsoo’s cheek. Myungsoo batted his hand away before turning away to pout.
“You’re so cute when you pout. This means I win the bet with Sungjong.” Myungsoo froze.
“What?”
“Yeah. Sungjong and I had a bet to see if you would get jealous or not. He said you wouldn’t. And then after that we decided to be friends. I like him. He’s a cute kid.”
“You bet. On me. Without telling me.”
“If I told you, it would’ve defeated the purpose. Hope you’re not mad.” Myungsoo shoved Sungyeol off of the bed.
--
Woohyun showed up bright and early in the morning holding a bag under his arm.
“Oh. Woohyun, you’re here early. Feeling better?”
“Lots, thanks. Sunggyu texted me. Seems like he’s feeling under the weather.”
“Yes, he came home last night with a fever and didn’t say anything about it. I tried to wake him up this morning, and he refused to get up, so I let him sleep in.”
“He sent me a text saying that he was sick and to bring him his school work this morning. So unromantic. I woke up early to make some soup for him.” He dropped the bag on the table and hurried off to Sunggyu’s room, where Sunggyu was sleeping.
“Hey. How you feeling?” Woohyun asked, sitting on the edge of the bed. Sunggyu made a whining noise without moving.
Woohyun laughed before leaning down to kiss Sunggyu’s forehead.
“Baby.”
