The Gamification of Dining

BrainsWell, socialising did not help. I felt out of my depth, continued to feel isolated, feel guilty and shitty about not being able to connect with people, and my brain feels like there are pins in it. Life now divides into: Things That Make Me Feel Guilty If I Think About Them ( Read more... )

that is a nice-looking meal! altho to be honest the fish looks kind of like it's going to walk off the plate and start drinking your tea. but it's a tasty-looking fish. was it fried?

i'm sorry socializing didn't help your brain, tho. :(

Oven-baked! Works best with the small fish (this one is a sand goby), I find pan-frying them makes them fall apart too quickly (I've been taking dried, oven-baked scads - baby mackerel - to work as snacks).

Goodness - please try it smoked! It's fantastic. Also a lot of the places I've had mackerel sushi in serve it marinated or cooked rather than as sashimi. Vive la difference!

Your proposed restaurant sounds incredible, and I'll be deeply sad if it never comes into being. It's time to come full circle and start hunting our own food again.

Especially if that food is a cute plastic onion with a smily face on it, rather than an actual damp squirrel.

A dentist sounds very sensible.

I would be very interested in that restaurant. (I was about to ask about vegetarian options, but then went "I can just not capture things that are meat", so score!)

Go to the dentist! They will fix at least some things!

Also, as I told Lindsay and indeed literally everyone else, you tell the chef the dietary requirements and preferences OF EVERYONE when you book. So even if you do find meat, as a group, you get a version of the dish made sans-meat for the veggie.

Awesome! I am fully in favor of this restaurant and will happily capture many plastic things!
