I keep typoing my own name as "Drek", which seems apposite.

For the last two nights I have been seconded to an additional brief of SPECIFICALLY stories about child abuse, neglect, and murder, on top of the relentless press last night covering the murder of one of our nicer MPs. I have developed a talent for getting caught in torrential rain.

Work involving constant exposure to horrifying news getting on top of you? I know that feeling. Although I don't spend literally all my working day reading about child murder, so you definitely have it worse.

Working on osmething easy and low pressure that's book-related sounds like a sensible plan. So does reading stuff that's enjoyable and not adding to the stress.

Reading ANYTHING at this point is too much, which is frustrating as all hell.

Yeah, that does sound frustrating.

Excellent! I will find somewhere where everything is noticeably smaller than a human, and also avoid titan triggerfish, because they are butt-biters. (Closest I ever came to being attacked by anything underwater was a fish two feet long and technicolor.)

I've been wondering the same thing. Doing the right thing seems to be getting people murdered at the moment. I mean, I guess it always has, but this is still a bit shocking.

Some peaceful lagoon where nothing is excessively poisonous and such sounds nice. I think I'd be up for being gently annoyed by a small octopus if it came down to it.
