Amazingly if you tell your therapist you'd been considering quitting AND that you've been contemplating both suicide and self-harm and subject to some unpleasant intrusive mantras of late he will be quite concerned and take a fairly gentle approach instead of telling you off, which was what I'd expected ( Read more... )

Glad your therapist isn't shouting at you. That would be horribly unprofessional and mean of him, and the world doesn't need horribly unprofessional and mean therapists.

It's January, your hormones are trying to kill you, and while you're making progress on transitioning, you're still stuck in the awkward waiting phase. I think you can let non-survival stuff slide until you're no longer caught in the horrible mood perfect storm.

Rational brain says yes it would be, emotional brain says "if you do anything other than demonstrate improvement then everyone will be upset and disappointed and hate you".

Mm, although it turns out "not working on my books" and "having my hair the wrong colour because I haven't dyed it" also makes me feel worse, so it's kind of a balancing act.

Your emotional brain is really inaccurate around people who aren't horribly abusive.

Yeah, that's tricky. Do whatever feels least bad and try not to beat yourself up?
