Revenge is being enacted upon me for my excesses yesterday (excesses in this case being "I walked 10.8 miles in the freezing cold on under 300 calories and then tried to redress this by drinking a gin cocktail, a pint of cider, and eating a lot of battered fish in various forms"). Revenges include ( Read more... )

Fainting and hallucinating? That's seriously scary. Is someone keeping an eye on you?

More history should feature the phrase "That shithead Stalin."

Gorgeous art.

Fluffy dogs and cake! That is an awesome combination!

Yah, yah, they're both home now and I retreated to bed when it became clear that "upright" wasn't working out for me. So far no further fainting and upchucking, fingers crossed for that continuing...

We had a whole discussion about whether the history of communism and the USSR and later the world would have been different if Stalin had fallen down a hole and died instead of backstabbing/literal stabbing Lenin & Trotsky, Stalin was such a fucking psycho.

The great thing with the art is, that kid was clearly appreciating it on a better level than everyone else. Adults look at art and think "what does it mean" or "I should like this because it's by so and so" whereas kids are just like "THIS THING MEANS SADNESS" or "I DON'T LIKE IT". Very immediate and honest. Great audiences.

YESSSS. I love that cafe a great deal, I think you'd like it as well.

I'm glad they're there for you. Lying in bed sounds like the best plan.

Yeah, there's a degree of larger historical factors at work, but it's amazing how one person in the right position can make everything so much better or worse.

Yeah, some things you need to be less "Let me contemplate the nuances of the symbolism; I bet I could get a book explaining it" and more "Oh wow, look at the light!"

I'm visiting my family, they have a big fluffy dog, and I still have some cupcakes from yesterday (not the cinnamon ones, but a different batch), so I've got fluffy dogs and cake.

It gets tedious quickly, though, my god!

Fluffy dogs and cake = the real reason for the season ;)

The book it came from was a present from the lady accompanying me, and I have several others like it. SLOWLY BUT SURELY I mean to walk all over this stupid city and learn EVERYTHING ABOUT IT.
