Blue sparkly peppermint candy? What is this stuff and how do I obtain it?

I think the gentleman farmer look suits you!

Ooh, I hope you get to go to the next appointment and they do something helpful.

That is an awesome plan for December! I'll be on vacation from mid-November to January, so I'll be enjoying holiday food, writing, drawing, and probably enjoying a portion of my dad's whisky collection. (It is a fine collection and he likes to share.)

You get like four parts caster sugar to one part water, boil it in a pan forever (don't let it go over 149C apparently), add blue food dye and edible glitter and peppermint essence, and pour it into a dish lined with greaseproof paper, then put it in the fridge to set. And then you have peppermeth.

Jess was all "I am delighted that you have decided to dress like someone's granddad" but I'm not just dressing like any granddad, I'm dressing like MINE. Style icon tbh.

I doubt they're going to do much of use, they're just deciding whether they think MBT will help me, which I'm dubious about but willing to try.

Ah, for all of the food holidays! And booze! And writing! BRILLIANT. That sounds like a proper vacation, I hope it lives up to its promise.

That sounds amazing! I didn't even know edible glitter was real!

I think you may have crossed the line from "granddad" to "time traveler" by now, which makes you Officially Cool.

I hope it helps you. I can't think of any reason for you to be untreatable, and I think people helping you is badly overdue.

And we're going to the coast, and everyone in my family is all "Ooh, you want to paint things? Awesome!" so I can go to the beach and paint and draw stormy winter things, and then go inside and enjoy warm holiday food and fine scotch. (Last year I had a shorter holiday around the same time of year, and my one grandmother was so pleased by one of my charcoal sketches that she had it framed and then decided my Christmas present was going to be art supply money, because she wanted me to make more art things. My other grandmother, who is more particular about art, said "Charcoal is really your medium!" which was extremely flattering.)

Yep, totally real, and available from all kinds of places. adulterates her cocktails with it every Eurovision.

Bowties are cool! I am cool!

Man, that sounds like the kind of family people have in movies, and fun as hell. Clearly you should be posting more of your charcoal work on here so I can fawn over it. ;)

It basically is exactly that - somewhat gritty bog-standard rock candy, because I didn't boil it for long enough, with blue food colouring, edible glitter, and peppermint essence in it. It tastes quite nice even if it looks dubious as hell. I might have another try when my jam thermometer gets to me.

And YES. It is a TINY crock pot also so I can make myself TINY casserole.
