17. What is your most proud moment?I note Nny's been using this list to be quite positive and I don't really think I can be, the moment I start thinking "what am I most proud of" I just think I haven't done anything to be proud of, or the things I might conceivably be proud of aren't worth pride ( Read more... )

With this one we end up at a very similar conclusion from a different angle. I think people would assume lack of a proudest moment comes from a lack of self esteem but I think it might be more that it comes from a lack of permanent self. I forget things after they're done, and you disassociate them from yourself.

Yeah, but there is overlap: it's hard to have self-esteem if you don't have a sense of self.

Is there something that I should be proud of?

Depends what you mean by 'should'. You've done many things I consider impressive, and several that I'd call significant accomplishments, and I think life would be easier and more pleasant for you if the feelings of pride lasted. But this is all subjective, and you're not obligated to feel any specific way.

It's not so much obligation, I just genuinely can't see anything impressive in them. I suspect in part because as soon as I've done something it stops being an achievement.

Yeah, that's your brain being unfair. If I wrote an entire novel or made an entire dress, you'd probably say nice things to me and tell me it was and impressive accomplish, and maybe even mean it. But when you do it, it doesn't count because it's you.
