A lovely bundle of very pretty fabric arrived at my house today! My sewing machine responded to this by breaking so utterly and completely that the handwheel won't even turn, and no amount of taking it apart and cleaning every single bit I can reach will induce it to do anything other than make a sullen buzzing noise like a depressed bee

I'm trying to put a positive spin on it now, which is that all this incredibly lovely fabric you've given me (THANK YOU) is too nice to be done justice by a squeaky, dusty, lurching behemoth of a sewing machine and deserves something shiny and new. :)

(I suspect the missus is also pleased that I'm not surgically attached to the machine at the moment).

It's really pretty, I'm quite excited by the dragon stuff because I do actually have a pattern for a cheongsam and I can't decide whether I should make that or go all out for trying to make something like a hanfu instead.
