TODAY I WENT TO THE HUNTERIAN. IT IS BRILLIANTLY FULL OF DEAD STUFF WITH LABELS. THAT IS PRETTY MUCH THE ENTIRE MUSEUM: DEAD STUFF IN JARS, WITH LABELS. SOME SURGICAL INSTRUMENTS. MORE DEAD STUFF. It is my perfect museum. It's also a pain to find because it's not really signposted inside the Royal College of Surgeons and I don't know Holborn very

Is the Gordon Museum open to the public? I would LOVE to go there. The thing that really got to me at the Hunterian (which was disappointingly light on deformed foetuses, and had a wide range of phylla on display - MOTH OVARIES, ALI. MOTH OVARIES) was an amputated foot with elephantiasis and a model demonstrating all the plastic surgery techniques that were invented as a result of WW1. Military medicine obviously fascinates the FUCK out of me, more so than any other branch of medicine, but it was seriously disturbing to see how horribly disfigured those young men were left.

ooh. i love the hunterian!!!! i actually bought a bunch of artsy prints of dead things in jars, to frame and decorate my bathroom with.

We were kind of hustled out because it was closing, so I didn't get to look over what was there - didn't look much like there were any prints. Couple of postcards, some cheap silver, and a very very very expensive book.
