Today, upon waking, I coughed strenuously for the duration of several minutes and, upon much hacking and horking, I dislodged from my throat a large mass the size and consistency of an egg white, bright lime-green in color, which trembled in its tissue bed as though frightened. So things have settled down and I'm no longer so depressed about how the city looks. Our apartment finally has electricity and gas and such, but still no cable or internet. Classes thus far are good. New Orleans is so awful.... Everything is devastated. Everything on Claiborne is closed and boarded up, almost none of the streetlights or lamps are on, many of the lampposts on St. Charles are knocked down, many blocks have no power, there are huge piles of debris everywhere... I honestly had no idea it would be this bad.

May God have mercy on

Tomorrow I return to New Orleans. I'm not sure whether or not I'll have access to them In-tar-webs. I'm excited.
