[Quest: At the Plateau]

[OOC: assume it's been a few days since the plans were made. Spent journeying towards the cliffs]The cliffs appear to represent a single freak occurence of a single volcanic intrusion. Any geologists in the partu would recognise basalt: fine grained, red cliffs striated vertically. At places they reach up to a thousand feet in height, and near the ( Read more... )

Mal looked up at the tall cliffs. He'd fought a few battles in the war in cliffs like these so getting around and through and over the smaller ones shouldn't pose too much of a problem. The taller ones would be very difficult.

He squinted his eyes as he eyed the tallest, most steep and jagged of the cliffs and for a moment, thought that going around might be a better option.

"Well... got rope. Enough grooves it looks like we got a few footand handholds here and there. Gonna climb."

Mal points up the main cliff. "Conjure we can get a rope goin' across to that smaller cliff. That'll be the tricky part. Gettin' the rope over there and gettin' across." His eyes narrow again in a squint. "Or we can just go straight up. Gotta be a cave somewhere for restin' when we're needin' it."

He looks sideways to Methos. "This is not the best idea ever." He quips jokingly.

"No. It isn't," Lara agrees dryly. She trains her eyes up, looking at the basalt, where the fractures lie, where the ledges are, and finally settling on the pinnacle.

"Unfortunately, I fear it may be task at hand. I don't relish the thought of all of us free climbing this monster, though. Perhaps Steph or I should go up and see what lies up a bit?"
