[OOC: assume it's been a few days since the plans were made. Spent journeying towards the cliffs]

The cliffs appear to represent a single freak occurence of a single volcanic intrusion. Any geologists in the partu would recognise basalt: fine grained, red cliffs striated vertically. At places they reach up to a thousand feet in height, and near the top they curve out over our questers' heads. The most easily scalable section seems to be a thin pinnacle of rock, about six hundred feet tall. The only problem is that it's separated from the main cliffs by no less than thirty feet at any one point.

If they want up, they'll have to think carefully.
