Summary: Character profile for Italy... Well, no, not really, Himaruya-san already draw Italy and made his their character profiles, but since I was at it, I draw ChibiVeneziano and ChibiRomano at Roman times and stuck them in a profile

Diocesi Italiciana (Italia Annonaria - Veneziano))

Diocesi Italiciana (Italia Suburbicaria - Romano)

Extra note:
For who's interested to know...

  • Profiles for Veneziano & Romano were already written by Himaruya-san. In case you don't know their human names are Feliciano Vargas and Lovino Vargas. Also, it seems Feliciano owns a cat named Gino.
  • So hum... this part of history is pretty messy. Italia technically existed prior to Roma's birth, actually prior to the existence of Magna Grecia. Anyway then Rome had birth and conquered all Italia and, more or less, keep it united (there were bits that were first part of Italia, then it was decided they weren't, then they were again, then bits who weren't part of Italia became part of Italia... things like that). However when the Roman Empire started having assorted problems in being ruled Gaius Aurelius Valerius Diocletianus Augustus, Diocletianus for short, though it would make things easier if he were to divide the empire in parts likely following the idea his predecessor, Flavius Valerius Aurelius Constantinus Augustus, Constantinus for short, had. More or less at this point someone thought it would be a smart idea to cut Italia into two dioceses. Now, it's a bit confusing to figure out exactly when, however since in April the 1st 286 the Vicarius Italiae whwas supposed to rule the Italia Annonaria moved to Mediolanum (Milan), let's assume this is the moment the two dioceses had birth.
  • Funny facts. North Italy wasn't that happy about the division because it caused Italia Annonaria to lose the privilege of not paying taxes. However south Italy wasn't happy about this division either because, although still allowed not to pay taxes, sort of lost the name of Italia and, even worse, the honor to be THE BOSS. How?
Italia Annonaria was ruled by the Vicarius Italiae, while Italia Suburbicaria was ruled by the Vicarius Urbis. It was probably meant to be flattering since the Urbis was Rome, but, if you consier the name Italia is born in South Italy and not in North Italy you can see how effectively Rome moved it from north to south and, from now on, for most of Italy's history it'll be the northern part that will use it the most.
As for the right to be the BOSS...
It's not just the Vicarius Italiae that moved on Mediolanum in April the 1st 286 but also
the praefectus praetorio Italiae, who rules the Prefecture of Italia and Africa. Same goes for a good part of the military administration. Short after in March the 1st 293 with the beginning of the Tetrarchy Mediolanum will become the capital of the Diocesis Italiae, the Diocesis Africae and the Diocesis Ispaniarum, but also of the whole Imperium Romanum Pars Occidentalis (Western Roman Empire).
