Falling in Love-to-Hate

Ladies and Gentleman! I have found my new Twilight! I have found that phenomenon that takes the world by storm, yet is horribly stupid. And the good part? It spawned from Twilight? The even better part? I think it might be worse than Twilight! Just when you thought there was nothing more horrifying than glorifying a relationship that includes ( Read more... )

silliness, books, ranting

I agree with just about everything you've put here. Also, add onto that the fact that we have the young woman in question, at the end of the book, flip out and call it quits over being spanked (after everything else, this is what was over the line?), all in order to set up for the next book. I could get if the spanking had happened early on and that's when she called it quits, but that just screams plot device.

Also, I skipped a bunch of sex. I don't usually have to do that, but I did for this book. It's bad when your kinky sex scenes get boring.

All the sex is either laughable or boring, but the first time takes the cake.

Christian: You're a virgin? Rage! How dare you?
Ana: *Blushes*
Christian: Alrighty! Sex now!
Ana: *Blushes*
Christian: *Nipple fiddles*
Ana: *Orgasms*

I didn't even get to the end, but didn't he spank her before that, anyway? I just... I don't understand how THIS is the erotic novel that takes the world by storm. It's horrifying!

I don't remember most of that book because I repressed it for the sake of my sanity. However, I vaguely remember your summary of events. It just kinda makes me want to bang my head on something.

Is 50 Shades of Grey the book that was basically a Twilight Fanfic turned into a novel where they just changed the names and stuff? I remember Toby posting something about that a while ago.

Yeah. I was bored and decided to give reading it a shot to see what all the fuss was about. <<<< Still trying to figure that out.

I know so many people in RL that read the book and loved it. I just never made the connection...no wonder people keep referring to it as the Next Twilight...hahah.

So you actually tried to read the thing? I was almost gonna, but then I read a snippet posted online and it was the kind of writing that gets ripped on, on 'weeping cock'

I can only stand so much purple prose, even if I'm reading it to laugh at it.

I have read so many better fics. SO many! I've even enjoyed a well written BDSM fic here and there, but I stress WELL WRITTEN. There's a fic over on NS that deals with BDSM. You can tell the authors did their homework, though I'm sure there are some exaggerated situations. You see them in and out of their dominant/submissive relationship and there's always the sense of equal power.

This series sounds like a hot mess of the author has no real clue. No thank you, but I'll enjoy the parodies.

It sounds the same to me too, like she's just completely out of it.

The only credit I'll give the author is that she admits it's crap. It's a shame she doesn't offer refunds.

I think I know which NS fic you're talking about. I did read it a bit, but I just have a hard time really getting into BDSM, but it's well-written. I could take it if that fic turned into an ebook phenomenon. This? No.

What can I say? I was curious. But hey! I've had plenty of giggles over it. No regrets.

I enjoyed your rant far more than I ever would have expected to enjoy Grey. ROFL about the bit on ellipses... I have been oe to abuse them myself.

This woman doesn't just abuse them. She murders them and beats their corpses.

Libraries banned this book and people were saying it was religious prudism and a bunch were all "No. It just doesn't meet our criteria." Ha! Go, Libraries!

Wait, don't take this wrong hon, but aren't you guys like the land of hash and legal prostitution? I can't imagine there's ANYTHING in this book as interesting as what you all can do legally there!

but here-here, you tell your customers.
