In the past three days, so much has changed. What started out as the Doctor showing her and Rory around the Under-Gallery, had turned out to be the worst mistake of his life. The Doctor had been summoned by UNIT when a new piece had shown up. A mirror. Something, up until a few days ago, Amy couldn’t see as causing any harm. It happened so suddenly ( Read more... )

Meanwhile, Rory is pacing back and forth behind her, deep in thought. While he's in full agreement that something has happened to the Doctor to cause the sudden intense aggression he'd exhibited (and thank god for quick reflexes, he'd gone straight for Amy's throat), he's not entirely convinced that the explanation is a supernatural one. Maybe the mirror's alien in origin, maybe the polished frame contains some sort of toxin that activates on touch, maybe it's something that only affects Time Lord physiology. That doesn't explain the mirror's other victims, though, so he is at a loss. He doesn't begrudge Amy's single-minded pursuit of the truth, he just worries that maybe she's looking in the wrong places.

He stops his pacing behind Amy and hesitates a moment before placing his hands lightly on her shoulders.

"Come on, Amy," he says. "I think it's time we tried to get a little sleep. You're knackered, I can tell."

Amy had been so entirely focused on her readings that she pays no mind to her husband who is pacing behind her. However at the feel of his hands on her, she jumps initially in response before relaxing.

"I feel like I've barely started." Amy said, frustrated with herself as she slumps in her chair.

Rory feels bad when she flinches; to try and soothe her, he rubs her shoulders a little before giving them a gentle squeeze.

"I know," he says kindly. "But you won't get anything done on no sleep. At least try for a nap? Maybe--maybe I can do some reading for you."

Amy knew he was right, the lack of sleep was getting to her. However, so was the anxiety that would surely make it difficult to actually rest, even if only for a few minutes. Pushing her hair back out of her face, Amy pushed the chair back, being mindful of his feet. "I'm not sure you'd know what to look for." Amy pointed out gently as she rose from her chair.

"I'm not sure I know what I'm looking for."
