I've been hearing things from Bossman, who has 2 twin boys - he's trying to help them with their schoolwork, which means he's re-learning algebra, and he's reading all the novels for their English classes - it's a lot of work ( ... )

Thanks for making an effort to show kids that it's not all about looks. :)

I used to feel weird when strangers would comment on my kids' appearance, given that I had absolutely nothing to do with that (they're adopted from China), but now it doesn't bother me. Most of the time. It was just a situation like this, where I felt like her opinion might have been less charitable if she knew his full story, that's been gnawing at me.

I've been doing ok with the kids' math so far, with a few exceptions, but eventually MiniPlu *is* going to outstrip me.

Psst, you have a stray bold tag at #31.

Making bad chemistry jokes with MiniPlu, who was so tired and stressed she was getting punchy.

This is a familiar state to me from last year :P At least you're managing to have fun, sorta?

That is indeed a neat space fact! -- I didn't know that!

I also think green eyes are really beautiful, but don't know anybody IRL whose eyes look consistently green. But so pretty! (I like dark brown eyes as well, and also grey eyes.)

entering my childhood home through the pet door after school on days when my mom wasn't home.

Ha, wow! I didn't know pet doors are big enough for that!

Also, AWWW! I'm glad to be your endearing answer :D

The store is called "One Sweet Ride"OK, a very odd combination, but a nice name! And yay for winning (strategically ( ... )

Tag fixed - thanks!

*bats dark brown eyes at you* :D

It was a larger pet door, I guess? And I was a pretty skinny kid.

Unfortunately, this brush with quantum physics has totally turned MiniPlu off physics, possibly forever. She says she'll probably take Anatomy as next year's science class, instead. A shame, because I liked physics way more than chem (sorry!) but I do know she often has trouble with intangible concepts (see: cell biology), so maybe Anatomy will be better for her in the end.

I will say, unless the Physics curriculum where you are is very different from ours, she's unlikely to encounter quantum mechanics in an introductory high school physics course! (I didn't get it in physics until the third class in the sequence in college, I think).

L actually seems to like this year's physics -- which is mechanics -- better than chem BECAUSE it's more tangible, and more intuitive.

I'm with you on the more milk on cereals for hydration purposes - I drink my first coffee at work. But I also eat my cereals quickly then. Hate soggy cereals.

And yay for pasta! :-)

When I was a kid, I would basically tell people, "If you want me to talk, do it now, because once I pour the milk in, I'm not going to stop to chat until I've finished eating" because I hated soggy cereal so much, lol.

I think my brain just literally dribbled out my ears and trickled down my shoulders. o.o I got no clue how you remain calm, collected, and completely eloquent with the posting about your time.

As for Two's Dimple weirdness. I get that completely. It;s not okay to say someone's kid is pretty, with no prompting, maybe that's a sad indicator for the universe and it's inhabitants, but some things just aren't okay or as innocent as they used to be. Employ tact and brains before making comments, people.

I mean, I don't really MIND that strangers sometimes praise my kids' appearances, as superficial (and possibly sexist) as that might be. It's more that, here in a generally conservative neighborhood, I felt more bitter about it - would they still think my son's dimples and smile are adorable if they knew he'd been assigned female at birth?

And - hah - about the eloquent comment. It's why I don't usually post that often these days. By the time I get to sit down to the computer, my brain is usually fried and I can't manage to string two useful sentences together!

I have those moments where eloquent or not, Im'ma post anyways ;) ♥

It makes no fucking difference, he's got a gorgeous smile and if they differentiate it because of his gender at birth, that's their lack of humanity, nothing to do with his feelings and associations and what he wants to be. Sod 'em.
