Just a heads up re: The Raven Cycle, it took me four times starting the first book over (and also switching to the audio version) before I could get through it. It's odd, to say the least, and her writing style can take a bit to get used to. I ADORE the series, though, so once I did manage to get into the first book, the others were easy. Although I did listen to them all on audio, fwiw. :)

Stiefvater's writing style *is* odd, and took me most of the first book to get used to, but once it had grown on me, I quite enjoyed the series. I don't think they are great literature or anything, but they are fun on the whole, and do one or two things really well, IMO.

Anyway, looking forward to your thoughts!

Also, wow, that is a lot of physical activity indeed. No wonder you're worn out and too busy for LJ!

I'm only a chapter or so in thus far, so I suppose it's far too early to judge, but so far I'm not finding anything particularly strange about the writing style. (Unlike "At Swim: Two Boys" that definitely took some getting used to!)
