Spent Saturday back in NJ, but no car work this time - we were just there for the annual triple-birthday celebration (me, MiniPlu and my SIL, K), as we all have July birthdays. Hung out a bit earlier in the day, then went to dinner at the Olive Garden (hadn't been there in 2 years and not for AGES before that, yay for them now having gluten-free ( Read more... )

Sounds like a very nice haul for MiniPlu! :D

The watch saga would be kind of funny if it weren't so frustrating... did Will finally put everything together?

Looking forward to what you think of ASOIAF #5 when you get to it, and also curious what you'll think of Fault in Our Stars -- L read it on this trip and it's sitting on my Kindle right now, but I don't know if I want to read it. On the one hand, the bits she's read to me are very well written and funny, but on the other hand, I now it's depressing, and, like you, I don't read books to be made depressed.

We were in Olive Garden for L's birthday after something like a 2-year hiatus, too, and I also noticed they now had gluten-free options.

I think, in my flist skims, I missed the post where you hurt your ribs/back, but glad that seems to be feeling better now. Fingers crossed that the Crohn's calms down, too.

Completely unrelated, but I'm sure you'll be happy to know that Norwegian Air was rated one of the best low-cost airlines in recent awards. :-P

I held out on The Fault in our Stars for ages because, even though I loved the Green brothers' video blog the year they got started on it, I had read John Greens Looking for Alaska and it wasn't really my thing. But the other day I decided to do the "look inside" feature on Amazon, just to see what all the fuss was about, and was captivated immediately by the way this particular book had been written. And everyone has raved so much about the movie, too (not that I've seen it). So ... I'll give it a shot. I have a feeling I'll find this version of depression easier to deal with than the abusive situation and poverty one of the main characters is dealing with in the book I'm reading now ( ... )

Sounds like it was a pretty good weekend!

I'd love to see Spamalot. It was one of those things that I mentioned to Howard I'd like to do, so he went and did it when he was in England. (As you said- men.) Glad you were able to see a good production of it!

And yes, MEN. Sometimes I wonder about them as a species....

I don't know what the ticket availability situation is like, but if you don't mind an hour's drive, you could come up to see the production we just saw. Only thing is, this is the last week, so if you wanted to see it, you'd need to move quickly.

Avoiding puppy need is just this side of impossible. And your version of slacking on exercise is making me feel guilty. Up, up, lazy old woman! At least hit the machines for a measly twenty minutes. Oh, wait, there's something else to read on the 'net....

I still seem unable to stop looking at adoptable dogs. Apparently I just like to torture myself. :P How's your old boy doing?

The "Oh wait, there's something else to read..." is what keeps me from getting enough sleep. Bad me.
