In 24 hours, Cassie's had 4 accidents and threw up once. Sigh. She otherwise seems all right, health-wise, not sure what triggered all this

Oh wow, you got MiniPlu an iPhone 5? Hopefully she's appreciative! (I told L she's not getting a smartphone until she is ready to start paying the data charges herself. Of course, neither B nor I have smartphones either, so it would be kinda crazy for her to have one.)
(Also, huh, we tend to do our shopping once a week, and our grocery bill is pretty regularly close to $200 -- I wonder if it's a local-cost-of-living thing, or just that we tend to buy everything in one place...)
Remission. *fingers crossed*
Fingers crossed for you, too!
As for vacation, are you thinking domestic or possibly international travel? I've got plenty of suggestions for that latter, if that's an option :)
I've got my first great-nephew (ACK!) due in March 2014, though,Ack indeed! I guess my eldest niece-by-marriage, i.e. B's brother's eldest daughter, is 19 or 20 already, so it's not outside the realm that I could be in that boat in the not too distant future, too, but she's also in med school, so I'm guessing it's going to be a while before she has any

The phone.... Yeah, that wasn't my plan at all. I was perfectly fine getting her a call-and-text-only phone, something basic to get started with, to keep in contact. But then I couldn't seem to find any reviews that gave me reassurance as to the sturdiness and quality of the phone - quality in terms of being able to hear someone well when calling, not breaking constantly, etc. And Will - being the tech geek that he is - didn't like anything I was suggesting, either, for contract or no-contract phones, even the TracPhones, in terms of overall value and ease of managing the account (ie keeping track of text allowances, is it really much cheaper than an annual plan, etc). And then my SIL Karen talked about how, when our eldest 3 nieces (now 20, 17 and 16) got their first phones, Karen and Rob were paying for the phones and family lines, and so got them all non-smart phones due to cost/lack of data plan. And how every one of them broke in short periods of time. Oh, and Karen's a die-hard iPhone user, as are several other family

I'm sure you're not going back after a smartphone, but L's been using her Tracfone texting phone quite a bit, and it's been holding up just fine. And keeping track of text/minutes has been really easy. So, overall, we're very happy to have gone in that direction. And B is thinking of switching to a Tracfone at some point, too, since he's the only one left on what used to be the family plan, as I've switched mine over to my work.)
I definitely got out-argued on the phone this time around (didn't hurt that there was still one family line left in the plan), but I might lobby harder for a TracPhone or similar when time comes for Two. The difference here is that MiniPlu keeps a good handle on how she's using her electronics, iTunes money, etc (although she hasn't yet settled on a good routine place to keep her phone and thus is constantly going, "Where's my phone" or calling it to locate the sound) and double-checks permission before downloading things, whereas we have never even told Two what his password is, in order to download any apps to his iPad Mini. (Recall that he won that last year at the orthodontist.) This is partly to make sure Two doesn't run amok with downloading things carelessly, and partly because he tends to randomly create passwords or misspells the word he intends, and then can't remember what it is. We're not sure what level of responsibility Two will be at when the time comes to get a phone for safety/communication purposes, and that will
