On Brook and his mystery body! (as Luffy would so wisely put it)

Jan 03, 2009 11:33

Brook is a mystery. He is a heap of old bones, but he is alive. There’s no character that isn’t surprised by this fact when first meeting him... and with good reason.

My theory is that he isn’t just bones (much as he loves to advertise this fact with his skull jokes). And why do I say so?

Simple: he has bodily functions, and you can’t have bodily ( Read more... )

It sounds like an awesome theory/idea and I'd love to see it done!

I'm a Brook fan, so I'm one of the first to want to see him get some lovin'... but I'm not sure I'm brave enough to put it into writing. It'd be a hell of a challenge to write it so that it'd be sexy. Seriously, it's very hard to think of Brook in any type of sexual context and not shudder in disgust. ^^U

I love the brook lovings.

I have two theroys I like to employ.

1. He has no body and gets his sexings through others via his soothing and persuasive music (Ah my hypnobrook...I love you).

2. His actual body is invisiable and at times incorporal. As you point out he does many things that require organs and tissue. Seeing is a prime example. My thoughts are he has all the neccessary human equipment...but he needs to will the function. So if he thinks about seeing...viola invisable eyes that see. He wants to touch? Invisable skin that feels. WAnts to have sex? Invisable penis I say!

I like pairing him with Zoro or Sanji. (Wich is a little strange since he really has a deeper connection to Luffy but hey...he has some refined (and pervy) Sanjiesqueness and some stoic Zoro swordsmaness which are both so much fun to play with!

I'd only ever read the one hypnoBrook story, I didn't know it was such a well-stablished thing! that's awesome! *__*

Though the invisible penis thing might work, too. I'm basically saying the same thing, just not with those words. XD

As a matter of fact, that's what I've been doing since you posted the comment. I'm quick to plunder other people's memories. XD

This is a really cool and original idea! Since Zoro and Brook do seem to have great interaction, this could make some rather neat fics, or maybe quite a few fics. Nitpick: Zoro didn't actually kill Mr 1/Daz Bones: we've seen him still alive later. That has no relevance to your argument, though, since he definitely cut him badly and made him bleed. My own favourite Brook idea is one which I've pinched from a poster on AP forums, namely that the Yami Yami Fruit allows Brook to do everything he needs - or wants, perhaps - to do that a normal living body would have no problem doing. I.e., if Brook feels a need to see, hear, think, use muscles, eat, poop, cry, sleep, nosebleed, talk etc without any of the organs that make these things possible, then his Devil Fruit allows him to do all these things, as in canon. And presumably if he needs/wants to have sex then his Devil Fruit would allow that as well. If Brook can tell Sanji's food tastes wonderful even though he has no tongue (as far as we can see), what's to say he can't have and enjoy ( ... )

Whooops. Sorry about that. *edits*
I couldn't really remember whether he had lived. Really, one would think after being so cut up he would have kicked the bucket. ^^U
Seriously, why does nobody ever die in OP, unless it's in a flashback?

...that would make sense, but being the curious person that I am, of course I had to go and come up with a much more complicated explanation instead. XD

I kind of have a Zoro/Brook fic in my mind already, but I'm not sure I have the courage to bring it to life. ^^U

It's much easier when my boys have all the standard parts attached, instead of just sorta being able to use them when they're not there. XD

But with Brook, it isn't necro. I mean he died once but now he's alive again, except now he's a skeleton. And OP-verse has already defined the differences between living, dead, and undead. It's like what Oda said about Zoro being able to talk with a sword in his mouth. Brook does all that stuff... with his heart! Ah! But he doesn't have one... yohohoho Oda does some crazy stuff with his DF-using characters, but it doesn't come across as all that complicated to me with the way their bodies would do normal functions. It's all very "like it says on the tin", you know?

Fanon theories are great for the creative writing process, I'm just real hesitant to limit my perspective on characters just to make it easier to understand or think about, doing it just for the sake of smut aside. Hell, I'm less worried about Brook's skeleton-ness and more worried about his age. Whether you go with skulljoke!Brook or Somehow human again to make this easier to write!Brook, the guy's pushing 80 or so. Have fun thinking about that! :D

I know it isn't necro, it just feels that way. It's just hard to get over the fact that skeletons are not normally alive, you know? :P

Uh? Oda said something about Zoro being able to talk with a sword in his mouth? I never knew! What did he say? :D

...after Kyou Kara Maou, I'm no longer worried about age difference. Heck, an age difference of a century or two isn't a big deal in that series. XD
And while Brook does behave like a dirty old man, that can be fun too. At the very least, since he is all bones we don't have to worry about wrinkles, and he doesn't have a single grey head in his beloved afro, sooo... XD

(awesome skull joke, btw. XD)
