yeah, i read one of his books cause i thought it was supposed to be amazing. it wasn't.

norwegian wood is going to be by the same guy thats doing 'i come with the rain'. it looks like his style may fit murakami's from what i saw in the trailer for the rain movie, but yeah... i'm not sure about murakami as movies....

:D

i haven't been reading at all lately and it's making me feel embarassed. adding that survey and my lack of answers to most questions to that.. D: it's not that i dislike reading, it's just i'm too picky when it comes to books- i start something, but if i don't like it (and that's what happens most of the time), i forget about it and start a new book. and, most of the time, i don't like the new one, either. lately all my literary buys have been murakami books, some $1-2 oldies by unknown authors (the cheeper, the better) and expensive art albums.. and idk if the last one even counts.

could you suggest something good? idc, long, sort.. i just need something new to try!

/ excuse my ranting

i probably don't read as much as it comes off that i do...
i know how you feel about starting books though. a have a bunch of books on my shelf that i started and didn't have the interest to finish.. even if i was almost done with them.
lol i just bought a bunch of really cheap old books XD i really like crappy old books that no one knows/cares about. haha~
i want all these nice art books but the really nice ones are always really expensive o_o

my default recommendation is ender's game. just because it's been my favorite for so long. i read it for school once just because it was in the house, and i ended up really enjoying it (i read the whole series after i finished it).
if thats not your thing, maybe something like the butcher boy by patrick mccabe. its sort of catcher in the rye-esque (if you like reading from a semi-crazy person's perspective). i picked it up for free somewhere and actually enjoyed it. (:

i remember reading yakuza moon (lol, lame, but i'm really interested in yakuza..)- the book had an interesting story, kind of, but it was so badly written, i didn't finish it, even thought i had 20 pages or so left to read D: that happens a lot to me..
i love old books no one knows/cares about, because i can just enjoy it, without having someone's opinion forced on me. i really dislike hating/liking books just for the fact that someone hates/likes it so much, you either start too or start doing the exact oposite D:
i found this really nice book on contemporary artists (how pretentious!) which has a torn page or something, so i'm hoping they sell it cheaper to me..

i google'd it and i think i might like it! i like books that are set in the future, especially if they basically feature humankind fighting for survival :D idk if it's translated into english, but if it is and if you enjoy books like that, you should seriously check metro 2033 by dmitri glukhovsky, it's one of the best books i've ever read (and it scared me for ages ( ... )

ahh i agree with hating/liking something because someone else hates/likes it (and it applies to a lot of things besides books..)
hopefully you got the book for cheaper!! and lol yeah, art books in general can come off as pretentious. XP booooo.

i'll have to look into that metro 2033 book. but it'll have to wait until i finish reading something else; i actually have too many books right now D:

it's not that i don't like him at all, i just couldn't get into a heartbreaking work of a staggering genius. that was a while ago though so i've been thinking about giving his books a try again (especially since he'll be releasing a book inspired by where the wild things are in oct!

yeah i totally get you on heartbreaking work. it took me suuuuch a long time ago and something about the beginning pages really rubbed me the wrong way. but i'm glad i got through it though. it's interesting, i have a love/hate relationship with his writing style, haha.
